Story
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Story
Troy has fallen and the victorious Greeks are eager to return home with the spoils of an endless war—including the women of Troy themselves. They await a fair wind for the Aegean. It does not come, because the gods are offended. The body of King Priam lies unburied and desecrated, and so the victors remain in suspension, camped in the shadows of the city they destroyed as the coalition that held them together begins to unravel. Old feuds resurface and new suspicions and rivalries begin to fester.

language barrier much

I found it hard to keep up with the characters simply due to the French pronunciation of every name sounding similar. It took me at least 4hours to figure out that 1 character was a woman, & that 2 were really 1-- author flips between just the 1st name or just the last name randomly it seems for a few characters.
never-ending & title-less chapters also made it hard to follow the timeliness initially.
Aside from my personal struggle, that had me rewinding whole chapters due to sudden disoriented feelings of being entirely lost in the story line, I found the story to be captivating. I just had to know what happened & so I listened till the end & I'm glad I did.

Bringing the magic and suspense of the All Souls Trilogy to a deeply satisfying conclusion, this highly anticipated finale went straight to number one on the New York Times best seller list. In The Book of Life, Diana and Matthew time-travel back from Elizabethan London to make a dramatic return to the present - facing new crises and old enemies. interesting enough to see it through to end
Reviewed: 02-18-22
held my attention enough to want to hear the ending but just like in book 2, the author is constantly explaining references to the previous stories I'm an attempt to make the story be able to stand alone. also, 1 or 2 sentences after a reference just in case the audience didn't know or remember. That was predictable & annoying.

the story was good, keep the reader guessing which kid grew into which adult character.
but the Avery narrator needed to wipe her mouth. the entire time. I couldn't stop hearing the wet corners of her mouth! it is highly distracting and I need to figure out if that was Emily Rankin or Catherine T so I can avoid her Narration in the future. I can't endure that again.

this read is the equivalent of watching a hallmark rom com on a lazy Saturday morning, in all the best ways that is! Sure- it's totally predictable, a little cheesy at times but acted & written more than well enough to warm your heart & maybe even shed a tear or two.
I downloaded it to keep me company on a work trip-- and it met my expectations entirely. Great light duty entertainment 👌
