Wishing I waited for book 2 to be released before starting this one! Captivating story that ends at the perfect moment that would make you download book 2 immediately to keep it going.

don't know why, but I slept fairly well on a 4hr flight while this book rolled on, I'd wake up for about 3 or 4minutes every 30-45minutes & this actor would just lull me right back to sleep

cute story, cute kid, but nothing too engaging. probably the longest I have ever taken to finish a story just because I didn't really care if I did finish it or not.

I found it hard to keep up with the characters simply due to the French pronunciation of every name sounding similar. It took me at least 4hours to figure out that 1 character was a woman, & that 2 were really 1-- author flips between just the 1st name or just the last name randomly it seems for a few characters.
never-ending & title-less chapters also made it hard to follow the timeliness initially.
Aside from my personal struggle, that had me rewinding whole chapters due to sudden disoriented feelings of being entirely lost in the story line, I found the story to be captivating. I just had to know what happened & so I listened till the end & I'm glad I did.

held my attention enough to want to hear the ending but just like in book 2, the author is constantly explaining references to the previous stories I'm an attempt to make the story be able to stand alone. also, 1 or 2 sentences after a reference just in case the audience didn't know or remember. That was predictable & annoying.

the story was good, keep the reader guessing which kid grew into which adult character.
but the Avery narrator needed to wipe her mouth. the entire time. I couldn't stop hearing the wet corners of her mouth! it is highly distracting and I need to figure out if that was Emily Rankin or Catherine T so I can avoid her Narration in the future. I can't endure that again.

this read is the equivalent of watching a hallmark rom com on a lazy Saturday morning, in all the best ways that is! Sure- it's totally predictable, a little cheesy at times but acted & written more than well enough to warm your heart & maybe even shed a tear or two.
I downloaded it to keep me company on a work trip-- and it met my expectations entirely. Great light duty entertainment 👌
