Story
All Things Bright and Beautiful is the beloved sequel to Herriot's first collection, All Creatures Great and Small, and picks up as Herriot, now newly married, journeys among the remote hillside farms and valley towns of the Yorkshire Dales, caring for their inhabitants - both two- and four-legged. Throughout, Herriot's deep compassion, humor, and love of life shine as we laugh, cry, and delight in the portraits of his many varied animal patients and their equally varied owners.

This is my second time through this series, and it won’t be my last. It checks all the boxes for me: engaging characters, exciting storyline, funny moments, and an overarching sense of good vs evil, love of family and friends, and the special relationship between a remarkable man and his extraordinary dog.

I’ve loved every book in this series so far, but I think this is my favorite. The story is exciting with lots of twists and turns, but as always my favorite part is the relationship between Alfred and Rex. In the end, it is their devotion to each other that saves the day. Can’t wait to start the next one!

Story
Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

I read this in college many years ago, but obviously did not pay attention. It is a wonderful story, a writing inspiration, and very difficult to put down in spite of its age. I wish I had to write those papers now because I would have so much to say. The performance by Richard Armitage is extraordinary, with every single character having their own recognizable voice.

I worried 12 dates would get tedious, but each one was a completely entertaining story on its own. The main characters were real and relatable, and I caught myself laughing out loud more than once. I’ll be looking for more books from this author.

I am so happy to find this little book! It gives the same feeling of hilarious absurdity that is also so appealing in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I only wish I had been so creative with my explanations to my children when they were small and looking to me with their constant Why's and What's and When's. A great read for kids and adults!
