As the country continues to fall apart, Lauren and Randy Howman, a co-worker at her bank, make their way through the Colorado Rockies. Basically book one and two are almost identical . If you read 1 don't bother with 2...if you read 2 don't bother with 1. I certainly will not listen to the 3rd. I was hoping in book 2 the author would continue with the saga of the world coming apart and how the characters in one would be in book two. However he took the easy way out a basically rewrote book one with no new surprises and no real hook (if you read one). It is excruciating to hear the whining over and over again of the main character Laura Davis. The plot is the same and we really are left with no understanding of the character development. Then ending in two does not fit the timeline that was set in book two even though certain events in both books are the same.

Story
When Andrew McCarthy's eldest son began to take his first steps into adulthood, McCarthy found himself wishing time would slow down. Looking to create a more meaningful connection with Sam before he fled the nest, as well as recreate his own life-altering journey decades before, McCarthy decided the two of them should set out on a trek like few others: 500 miles across Spain's Camino de Santiago. Over the course of the journey, the pair traversed an unforgiving landscape, having more honest conversations in five weeks than they'd had in the preceding two decades.

Short and to the point. Why was Walt explaining everything to Vic at the end of the story, she was with him throughout the book and then he gives her a summary of what happened . My take is that Craig Johnson just need to end the book for the publisher and just ran out of a time, Not his best.

Don't get me wrong I like Walt Longmire. However this short story just seems like a rehash of a lot of his other stories with a repeat of characters and plot.
I am waiting for his next full novel. I miss "Vic"

Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's new leader, is activating his most trusted (and deadliest) terrorists to carry out his newest plot: to detonate a bomb inside one of the 64 commercial nuclear power plants in the U.S. in an attack 10 times worse than 9/11, causing radiological fallout that would kill hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans.

Liked the 1st 2 a whole lot more!
Reviewed: 09-11-15
What did you like best about Full Assault Mode? What did you like least?
I liked that Kolt is not dead...LOL...This was only a shadow of his first two books...way to much redundancy. I mean how many times do we have to hear about why Kolt is doing this, and what he did before and how for the 3rd time he his saving thousands of people maybe millions...or maybe the whole frickin' world. I know its a novel...but come on now, lets keep it somewhat real!
Has Full Assault Mode turned you off from other books in this genre?
Still a good listen but 1/2 way thru I was was ready to abandon the novel.
Which scene was your favorite?
There is way too much going on to pick one!
Was Full Assault Mode worth the listening time?
No.
Any additional comments?
It does seem that all franchise authors hit the wall at one of there books. I think this was it for Dalton Fury. I bet the next one will be as good as the first 2.

Story
Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

Extremely disappointed !
Reviewed: 01-07-15
What would have made Edge of Eternity better?
Less sex, less repeating of character development and less half truths. Are the Kennedy's that good? No mention of Carter, and a complete distortion of Regan and Bush.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ken Follett again?
Not if it has anything to do with the US political landscape.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
He was OK
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Edge of Eternity?
Without going into real specifics I just thought at times ...why is he repeating this? Or didn't I just hear this? It was almost like every other chapter was explaining something as if it was written in another book.
Any additional comments?
The political discourse was so off base that I could not get into the book...after awhile I started looking to see how much time was left. And usually thinking"oh man another four hours"

I normally do not write reviews. To drag you down a journey that was way over written and to end it like he (the author) got bored was awful. The ending is way out of line and not really complete.
The ending is like taking the movie "Slum Dogs" and having the girl get run over at the train station at the end of the movie.
To have the main character wonder around the north woods for over two months and then write the same description over and over again was painful.
The book had its moments, but if I was reading it I would have skipped a lot of pages.
