About this listen

Sheriff Walt Longmire and Henry Standing Bear embark on their latest adventure in this novella set in the world of Craig Johnson's New York Times best-selling Longmire series - the basis for the hit drama Longmire, now on Netflix.

When Wyoming highway patrolman Rosey Wayman is transferred to the beautiful and imposing landscape of the Wind River Canyon, an area the troopers refer to as no-man's-land because of the lack of radio communication, she starts receiving "officer needs assistance" calls. The problem? They're coming from Bobby Womack, a legendary Arapaho patrolman who met a fiery death in the canyon almost a half century ago.

With an investigation that spans this world and the next, Sheriff Walt Longmire and Henry Standing Bear take on a case that pits them against a legend: The Highwayman.

Softly Spellbinding

Craig Johnson enthralls while keeping his boots firmly on the ground. Super use of language as always!

One of the best out of the Longmire series.

Short, sweet and to the point. One of the many things I enjoy about the Longmire series is the steadiness of its characters. I will be rereading "The Highwayman," and so should you. The story sings because Longmire and Standing Bear are together and bringing two cultures together to solve a very human issue. Read the book.

What can I say

I turned to this book as a break from something a bit heavier that I was listening to. As usual, like sitting with an old friend- George Guidall's narration and the story took me to other places. Neither have ever failed to entertain, give me a break from day to day routine provide a pause for thought. Just wonderful!

Longtime and the Spirits

Poor Walt. He is so determined to find a rational explanation for everything, and sometimes life refuses to cooperate. I don't think it's a spoiler to reveal this is another story of the spiritual, and an excellent one as always.

Craig Johnson with a dash of Rod Serling! WOW!!

A different kind of Longmire story from Craig Johnson. As is his trademark, Johnson crafts a beautiful picture of Absoroka County Wyoming and the fully wrought characters that inhabit the region.

Gripping. And spooky.

Fully enjoyed this book. Recommend it to those who like modern western stories, well written with a deep nod to Native American spiritualism and humor.
