Story
Have you ever had a crush on your babysitter? Taryn Ross sure did. Sixteen-year-old Charlotte was sophisticated, thoughtful, gorgeous, and fun. Taryn counted the minutes until they’d hang out. But Charlotte and her family moved away. Now a transfer student at Hillspoint University, Taryn is ready to officially come out when she runs into a familiar face at a party. Charlie, now a grad student, insists on walking a drunk Taryn home. To the detriment of Taryn’s heart (and libido), Charlie has only grown kinder (and hotter) with time.

This is the queer love story we all need! Was hesitant about the babysitter thing but the author didn’t make it a big deal, so you kind of forgot about it. Absolutely loved it!

Story
Stevie and Nora had a love. A secret, epic, once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. They also had a plan: to leave their small, ultra-conservative town and families behind after graduation and move to California, where they could finally stop hiding that love. But then Stevie has a terrible fall. And when she comes to, she can remember nothing of the last two years—not California, not coming to terms with her sexuality, not even Nora. Suddenly, Stevie finds herself in a life she doesn’t quite understand.

I really enjoyed this book. I was afraid that it would be the same old retelling of Cyrano we’ve all heard before but I was pleasantly surprised. Give this book a chance, you won’t regret it.

Just a few thoughts…
Reviewed: 06-03-22
This was a really good listen. I like both narrators, however I hate Emma with a passion. She is suppose to be charming but I find her kind of annoying. I only like enemies to lovers when there is an actual reason for them to be enemies. I wanted more jasmine & Lexi. They are suppose to be best friends but the book was mostly filled with them being separated. I could have used less Taylor and Emma honestly. The ending is the reason I’ll be buying the second book.

Toni Danzig is a dirt bag—literally. There’s nothing she enjoys more than being out in the mountains leading adventure tours. On a well-deserved break over a long weekend, she’s DJ-ing karaoke at the Dew Drop Inn when Audrey Adams takes the stage to sing the greatest middle finger break-up song ever, dedicated to her ex-girlfriend. It’s a perfect night that culminates in a transcendental experience in bed…before Audrey rushes out the next day.

Look is about what you present vs. who you really are, about real and manufactured intimacy and the blurring of that line. It's a deceptively glamorous, utterly compelling, beautifully crafted, queer coming-of-age novel about falling in love and taking ownership of your own self - your whole self - in the age of social media.
