Would you consider the audio edition of Margaret Beaufort to be better than the print version?
I personally enjoy holding and reading a book to listening to it. That said, I have very little time actually sit down and read but AM on the road a lot. For this reason audiobooks are a GODSEND!!!
What other book might you compare Margaret Beaufort to and why?
I would say that books in this same venue would be similar to The White Queen or the Red Queen. However, those are not completely based in historical fact. It is my understanding that this book is, and perhaps one of the reasons I liked it so much is that it was still written in a way that did not feel like I was reading out of a textbook.
Which character – as performed by Debra Burton – was your favorite?
Most of the book, if not all, was from Margaret's point of view so this question does not really apply.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Learning more about the live of Margaret before the birth of her son was the most interesting. You get a better feel for how difficult life was for her, and women in general, and just how much she went through even before the birth of Henry the VII.
Any additional comments?
I would strongly recommend this book!

Which president had feet bigger than his ego? Which barked like a seal? Which joked about dating mummies? Kathleen Krull uses fun and quirky facts to bring to light the human side of the 42 U.S. presidents in this "deliciously gossipy" biography.

Where does Lives of the Presidents rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is probably one of the middle books. I love history and this absolutely covers it, but not the serious side of it. It was a nice break away from some of the more heavy books I have read.
What other book might you compare Lives of the Presidents to and why?
I think the books by Vowel might be good because of the way she mixes in humor and the real story about history and what happened.

Story
In a rich and riveting narrative, Jane Dunn reveals the extraordinary rivalry between the regal cousins. It is the story of two queens ruling on one island, each with a claim to the throne of England, each embodying dramatically opposing qualities of character, ideals of womanliness (and views of sexuality), and divinely ordained kingship.

Great Book, Lots of History
Reviewed: 10-20-13
What did you love best about Elizabeth and Mary?
I really enjoyed the way the writer took the time to explain all the ways one life affected the other. How she could make you both feel frustrated with both women and sympathic at the same time. How the way the life and times they lived in affected the end result.
I loved how she compare the two women and how each one had their strengths and obvious weakness'.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Definately has to be Elizabeth I. For all her attempts to side step and save Mary Queen of Scots, there was no way out.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
No Way Out!

Would you listen to The Sunflower again? Why?
I would listen to this book over and over. The fact is when you listen to the story and then the different responses from others, you can do nothing else but wonder what the right answer is, or IF there is a right answer.
What about Robertson Dean and Laural Merlington ’s performance did you like?
I really appreciated the way the different narrators were used. It helped to bring you into a different mood and prepare you for a different point of view with each letter.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This book was extremely moving because to forces you to think through what it is you believe you would have done, and question it.

This acclaimed best seller from popular historian Alison Weir is a fascinating look at the Tudor family dynasty and its most infamous ruler. The Six Wives of Henry VIII brings to life England’s oft-married monarch and the six wildly different but equally fascinating women who married him. Gripping from the first sentence to the last and loaded with fascinating details, Weir’s rich history is a perfect blend of scholarship and entertainment.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a very good history of the wives of Henry. I was a little concerned in the beginning because it seemed to focus so much on Catherine of Aragon, but it makes sense as the story continues. Catherine was such a big part of Henry's life and really set the standard on how he moved forward with his other wives, how could the author not give her more time. I really appreciate the fact that the author actually takes the time to mention where the information is coming from and, when appropriate, warns the listener if it is from a dubious source or not. Not much comes from those dubious sources, but when that information is included, so is the warning!
What about Simon Prebble’s performance did you like?
I really enjoyed the say Simon Prebble presented this book. He does not change tones much but is able to convey the story in a strong, proud way without judgment in his voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would have loved to have been able to just sit around all day and listen to this book. However, I have 3 children and a fulltime job so THAT was not happening! However the fact is I completely enjoyed my driving time (1.5 hours round trip daily)!
