The Alvin Epic story continued in tragic ballad. It was sad, complicated, and made me think. In other words, it was another very good read.

Having enjoyed both Mogworld and Jam, I was glad this followed in the same humorous tradition. The story was fast paced, filled with dry wit, and as sensible as such a crazy plot could be. It made for great ride.

Excellent Single Novel story

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

Most modern authors don't have the confidence to confine their successes to a single novel, but rely on never ending sequels. Brandon Sanderson creates fascinating worlds so well and so well told that he's become one of my new favorites and I've only read 4 of his books. Great world, had me from the 2nd minute when the premise I thought I was ready for changed.

Who knew that Alan Greenspan was such a fascinating person and had led such a varied life. I was enlightened and intrigued, I learned a lot and some of it even stuck with me.

A wretched experience

Overall

I had big hopes for this book, some big names on the cast, promoted heavily, etc.

However I was terribly disappointed, the stories seemed to be more agenda driven then story or character driven, and though I forced myself to keep listening and got to the third or fourth story, where it actually got interesting, the self righteous trite lessons that were being spoon fed to the protagonist just reeked of so much condescending naivety that I finally gave up and took the book of my iphone. This is the only audible book I haven't finished, there are so many gems out there don't waste time on this one.
