Was recently voted one of the best books of the century so far by the New York Times. I wouldn't really agree with that but it will hold your attention and keep you guessing to the very end what happened. Overall really good book

What made the experience of listening to Death of a King the most enjoyable?

The real story of King's final year will send chills down your spine, the betrayal by friends and the media, the depression, the imperfections of MLK and eventually the regicide give readers/listeners a tragic look into the life of one of Americas most heroic leaders.

Have you listened to any of Tavis Smiley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was his first performance

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book made me aware and put me at peace with the real legacy of MLK

Would you listen to David and Goliath again? Why?

I would. David and Goliath was extremely informative and as usual with Gladwell's books creates a different way to think of the world that has practical applications with everyday life.

What other book might you compare David and Goliath to and why?

Outliers

Which character – as performed by Malcolm Gladwell – was your favorite?

I loved the story about why going to an Ivy League school may be bad for you or your child.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I could not put it down

Any additional comments?

It is a book that will deliver.

Would you listen to The Passage of Power again? Why?

The more things change, the more they stay the same. It is a lesson in why Clinton would have been a better option than Obama and why JFK was probably all style and little substance.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Passage of Power?

How clever Johnson was in passing the the civil rights act of 1964

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The assassination of JFK and how even then people knew that something was wrong with the lone gunman theory.

I was once a huge fan, then he became in my opinion a great disappointment. This book renewed my faith in Obama although named "The Obamas" it is really about Michelle. You find out that he still holds the values that sent him to the white house, but as always things are more complicated than they seem.

If you are a fan or once was this book will sit with you and you will respect him again.

My mom was one of the southern African Americans who made the trip to Boston all those years ago. She never talked about her trip and her reasons for leaving. I never asked. This books brings incredible insight into her story and ultimately my history. I would recommend it to all, but in particular those who wonder what struggles your parents who migrated from the south all those years ago may have been like.
