One of my favorites

I loved this story and the way it was delivered. This book is for anyone who enjoys a slow burn romance with in depth descriptions that submerged you in the psychological aspects of romance and life; The way we overthink things, the way we compromise, and strength of accepting what is possible. Through all that raw honesty is a sexiness that goes beyond the average romance novel. IT IS VERY HOT!!

Story
If there is one thing you needed to know about me it is this: I hate vampires. They are useless, soul-sucking monsters that destroy everything in their path, even my own family. I joined The Order and became a vampire hunter for revenge, but I never would have guessed that my job would entail baby-sitting the vampire heir to the most powerful clan in the world. And if she thought I was going to break like the other hunters she has been through... she has another thing coming to her.

Five stars all the way
Reviewed: 10-06-24
Star one for a classic enemies to lovers trope.
Star two for complex inner turmoil and character development.
Star three for wonderful fantasy world building.
Star four for taking my own heartstrings and playing them like a marionette.
Star five for a beautiful amount of enticing lesbian smut that somehow also felt like a slow burn romance.
I had originally put this book down during the first chapter because of the author’s style to sometimes be redundant in her descriptions. I’m glad I picked the book back up, because all my preconceived notions of what I was listening to vanished quickly.
I love stories with strong flawed characters who undergo development because of the events they are placed in. I want a character’s world turned upside down. This book has that in spades.
I am also always at war with my own desires for a slow burn romance and intense passionate smut. The enemies to lovers trope never seems to fail with sating this portion of my appetite, as characters often find themselves driven by lust as it slowly converts to something more.
I will warn anyone who dives into this story that it will not deliver a simple lesbian vampire romance via a neat box topped with a crimson velvet bow. It is messy and dripping with anticipation. I can’t wait to see what book 2 has in store.
