Story
Like millions of her millennial peers, Rachel Held Evans didn't want to go to church anymore. The hypocrisy, the politics, the gargantuan building budgets, the scandals - church culture seemed so far removed from Jesus. Yet despite her cynicism and misgivings, something kept drawing her back. And so she set out on a journey to understand the Church and to find her place in it.

Worth the time

Marked it down a point because in her zeal to showcase the need for inclusiveness in the Christian Church [a view point I support whole heartedly] she somehow becomes justified in preaching the exclusion of bigots, homophobes, conservative evangelicals, and at times "Republicans" from this more inclusive church.
However, I found the book both worth the time and instructive.

Violent

For the first time, I guess running out of hunting stories, the author has written about gratuitous torture and slaughter. Same characters we all love, but written more like a 60 minute tv show with lots of violence. If this had been book one, I never would have made it to book 2. My spouse will be skipping this one.
I will read / listen to one more in hopes this was an aberration.

Action story without character development [just stereo types]. The hero, at least, was mostly likable. Shallow like a tv script, not a novel. Covert ops that aren't very covert. Dull but I did finish the audio book. Narration was acceptable, easy to understand, didn't have much to work with.

Story
Justice Anthony Kennedy slipped out of the Supreme Court building on June 27, 2018, and traveled incognito to the White House to inform President Donald Trump that he was retiring, setting in motion a political process that his successor, Brett Kavanaugh, would denounce three months later as a "national disgrace" and a "circus". Justice on Trial, the definitive insider's account of Kavanaugh's appointment to the Supreme Court, is based on extraordinary access to more than 100 key figures - including the president, justices, and senators - in that ferocious political drama.

Irrespective of your political leaning or your agreesiveness in support of remote charges of sexual harassment / assault, this tale outlining how US Senators [and less importantly news media] used their positions of power NOT to support a woman claiming to be a victim of sexual assault, but rather to destroy a man who they feared would not support their policy positions on the Supreme Court.
The detailing of lies and juvenile twisting of words and thought that dominated these hearings should, sadly, cause every reader to lose respect for the US Senate.
