The combination of George Guidall and Craig Johnson is a win win proposition. One of Johnson’s best.

Marked it down a point because in her zeal to showcase the need for inclusiveness in the Christian Church [a view point I support whole heartedly] she somehow becomes justified in preaching the exclusion of bigots, homophobes, conservative evangelicals, and at times "Republicans" from this more inclusive church.

However, I found the book both worth the time and instructive.

For the first time, I guess running out of hunting stories, the author has written about gratuitous torture and slaughter. Same characters we all love, but written more like a 60 minute tv show with lots of violence. If this had been book one, I never would have made it to book 2. My spouse will be skipping this one.
I will read / listen to one more in hopes this was an aberration.

More enjoyable characters and character development than in most 10 hour books. Just a delight, there should be more out there like this.

I can't say, after listening to this audiobook, that I could write down specific facts I learned .... but what a delight. It will "read" like a new book if I listen again next year. I plan on doing more Attenborough.

Action story without character development [just stereo types]. The hero, at least, was mostly likable. Shallow like a tv script, not a novel. Covert ops that aren't very covert. Dull but I did finish the audio book. Narration was acceptable, easy to understand, didn't have much to work with.

Tiresome and banal. I listened on 1.25 speed and skipped some chapters altogether. Predictable and unsatisfying.

Irrespective of your political leaning or your agreesiveness in support of remote charges of sexual harassment / assault, this tale outlining how US Senators [and less importantly news media] used their positions of power NOT to support a woman claiming to be a victim of sexual assault, but rather to destroy a man who they feared would not support their policy positions on the Supreme Court.
The detailing of lies and juvenile twisting of words and thought that dominated these hearings should, sadly, cause every reader to lose respect for the US Senate.

Not the McCarthy tale you would expect. Disjointed, violent, worthless combatants with a touch of insight that earned it a second star.
