Don't get me wrong this is one of the better books in the series but I can no longer handle Sophie Eastlake Ethan voice. She makes Ethan sounds like a constipated male version of Kim Kardashian. Its so bad its taking away from the enjoyment of this book.
ANYONE who has been listening to her Ethan voice KNOWS I AM RIGHT ON THIS.
Still liked the book and all the narration besides Ethan though well worth getting this one if you like the series.

I liked this series a lot. The magic system is pretty neat and it keeps you interested. The books have perfect pacing that lets the characters become well developed without getting bogged down with useless descriptors that just slow down the story without reason.
I will say the second two books are much better then the first two books. That being said the first two books are good too its just the second half of the series is AMAZING. The

Story
Omnius has been hiding a lot from the people of Avilon. The war with the Sythians is not what we thought, but that raises the question: If not the Sythians, then what did Omnius go to fight in the Getties Cluster? Omnius knows what people will do before they do it. He predicts citizens' behavior, and, some suspect, he even makes those predictions come true.

Story
Danny North is the first Gate Mage to be born on Earth in nearly 2,000 years, or at least the first to survive and claim his power, for families of Westil in exile on Earth have a treaty that requires the death of any suspected Gate Mage. The wars between the families had been terrible until at last they realized it was their own survival in question. But a Gate Mage, one who could build a Great Gate back to Westil, would give his own family a terrible advantage over all the others and reignite the wars. So it was decided that they all had to die.

Very good series ends with a very bad book
Reviewed: 10-22-15
The book went of the rails here. The dialog is boring and uninterested and these kids just sound like 100 year old philosophers when they talk not teenagers. There is no action at all which makes OSC normally great dialog seem to drag on forever since its really bad in this book.
Story lines just get ended in dumb ways just to try to end the series on this book. I am very disappointed with this one since I LOVED the first two books. I wish OSC would have taken the time to finish this series in 2 or 3 more books instead of ending it like this.
As usual Stefan Rudnicki is an amazing narrator if he was not reading this I would not have been able to finish it. Anything the guy reads is interesting even when its not.
Emily Rankin is amazing too I wish she did more books.

Story
Even when finding oneself engaged in interstellar war, good form must be observed. Our story is set thousands of years after the Terran Exodus, where two powerful, planet-dominating families - the elegant House Jakabitus and the less refined Hahn Empire - have reached a critical point in their generations-long war. Master Hennik, the Hahn ruler's only son, has been captured, and the disposition of his internment may represent a last and welcome chance for peace.

Story
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Story
Nearly 100 years before the events of Orson Scott Card's bestselling novel Ender's Game, humans were just beginning to step off Earth and out into the Solar System. A thin web of ships in both asteroid belts; a few stations; a corporate settlement on Luna. No one had seen any sign of other space-faring races; everyone expected that First Contact, if it came, would happen in the future, in the empty reaches between the stars. Then a young navigator on a distant mining ship saw something moving too fast, heading directly for our sun.
