Thought provoking

This gave me some things to think about. While it missed the mark on a few specific areas that I deal with since I was thrown into the menopause world after a full hysterectomy (that's my world as a whole with anyone that dares to use the "M" word), I think it's a great resource for menopausal women that are going through the process naturally.

Story
Trent Shelton seemed to have it all together - until everything fell apart. A college football standout, his NFL dreams died when he was cut from multiple teams. With no job and no prospects, learning he had a child out of wedlock on the way and numbing himself with whatever he could find, Trent then found out one of his closest friends had killed himself. Life seemed without hope - until Trent discovered the secret to finding promise in the darkest of times. And now he shares that secret with you.

I love how real and honest Trent is. This book, along with his podcasts breathe life back into my soul on a continuous basis. I call it "Church of Trent" when I need a boost and start searching for his newest content. I'll definitely listen to this one many times!

Story
In her first book, popular runner blogger Amanda Brooks lays out the path to finding greater fulfillment in running for those who consider themselves "middle of the pack runners" - they're not trying to win Boston (or even qualify for Boston); they just want to get strong and stay injury-free so they can continue to enjoy running.

Meh

I appreciate that this is geared toward people that don't necessarily consider themselves "real runners". I expected a little more out of it, honestly. While the exercises might be helpful in the hard copy, it felt like they were pulled from a blog to add weight in the audio version. I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of it. If you've been running for an extended period of time, this may not be that beneficial.

Story
Growing up in Yakima, Washington, Noe Álvarez worked at an apple-packing plant alongside his mother. A university scholarship offered escape, but as a first-generation Latino college-goer, Álvarez struggled to fit in. At 19, he learned about a Native American/First Nations movement called the Peace and Dignity Journeys, epic marathons meant to renew cultural connections across North America. He dropped out of school and joined a group runners, all fleeing difficult beginnings. Telling their stories and his own, Álvarez writes about a four-month-long journey from Canada to Guatemala.
