Story
Since the dawn of recorded history, humans have felt a kinship with the sleek and beautiful dolphin, an animal whose playfulness, sociability, and intelligence seem like an aquatic mirror of mankind. In recent decades, we have learned that dolphins recognize themselves in reflections, count, grieve, adorn themselves, feel despondent, rescue one another (and humans), deduce, infer, seduce, form cliques, throw tantrums, and call themselves by name.

I HATE THAT ENDING!!!!
Reviewed: 02-10-24
The character building in the book is fantastic. It was a very slow start and I almost gave up on it, but was glad I kept going. Overall the book is very good, but I am not even sure I would recommend it to a friend. There are several annoying things about it.
The author’s use of repetitive dialogue, which finally became evident that it was done on purpose, was very annoying. She said,,, then he said, then she said, then he said…. Was very distracting. I wanted to say, “Please cut that out,” she said. “I don’t want to,” he said. “But it’s annoying,” she said.
THE ENDING WAS VERY DISCONCERTING. Like the other annoying structures of the book, it was probably purposeful to keep you thinking and writing alternative outcomes in your head. I don’t always need a neat wrap up, but this was frustrating. It felt like someone stopping a movie right at the climax and saying THE END.

PLEASE STOP WITH THE RIDICULOUS POLITICAL GARBAGE
Reviewed: 02-14-23
Stephen King has been one of my all time favorite authors, but I am now beginning to question that. Out of context, or with weak attempts to throw it in, he adds derogatory political references to Trump, conservatives or Republicans. If King thinks he’s changing people’s politics, he is deluding himself. What he is doing is disrupting an otherwise brilliant story with unnecessary political rhetoric. My guess is his editors couldn’t get him to cut it out because he feels entitled to slam his listeners regardless if it diminishes the quality of the book.
Maybe if unnecessary, biased political references cost him some fame and fortune, he will go back to writing great books and park the politics. Ugh!!
I really like the narrator. Great job!

I’m only a few chapters in and I’m getting my credit back. The narrator’s voice is like fingernails on a blackboard. Her interpretation of Marino is so incredibly irritating that I simply cannot listen any further. Within a half hour of listening I sped up the narration a notch and that helped until Marino came into the story. I cannot keep listening. Ugh!!

I am not a fan of this style of performance. It was annoying. Also the content of the story is very disturbing. I love a good thriller but the excessive, disturbing violence was simply very SICK and disturbing. Yes disturbing and sickening. I simply cannot say the word DISTURBING enough. I kept stopping the audio thinking I might be able to keep going if I took a break from the violence. My Audible often starts playing when I start up my car. It did that with my 9-year-old and 5-year-old grandkids in the car. It was right at a horrifying part. I scrambled to stop it.
