A dark history lingers in Chapel Croft. Five hundred years ago, local Protestant martyrs were betrayed - then burned. Thirty years ago, two teenage girls disappeared without a trace. And a few weeks ago, the vicar of the local parish hanged himself in the nave of the church. Slow Burn
Reviewed: 10-21-24
The story was a slow burn, but in the best way possible. The characters were both likeable and fallible, strong and independent yet vulnerable. The reoccurring good vs evil theme was very well done. I really enjoyed this book

Reviewed: 10-07-24
This book is purely an account about human emotions and connections. As an avid sci-fi and thriller reader this book left me wanting to know more about the how and why this dystopia was created. but alas, this is not the type of book, this is about the deep and profound since of self and human connection. I enjoyed it immensely but it left me wanting more.

Story
In a society that is digging deep into the misogyny underlying our traditions and media, the world of sports is especially fertile ground. From casual sexism, like condescending coverage of women’s pro sports, to more serious issues, like athletes who abuse their partners and face only minimal consequences, this area of our culture is home to a vast swath of gender issues that apply to all of us - whether or not our work and leisure time revolve around what happens on the field.

Story
In 1999, Emmon Bodfish was murdered in his home in the wealthy enclave of Orinda, California, just east of San Francisco. For the young crime-scene analyst Paul Holes, it quickly became the most bizarre and surprising case of his storied career. It was immediately clear how Emmon had died: by being hit over the head with a heavy object. What wasn’t clear was who did it and why.

redefining lady
Reviewed: 07-15-20
absolutely love this take on what it means to be a lady. femininity has changed so much over the years and with women working and doing just as much outside of the home as men we have to now redefine what it means to be a lady. their advice is solid and sound and hilarious, it truly resonated with me at age 32.

But when they meet the neighbors next door, that calm begins to erode as she spots a familiar object displayed on the husband’s office shelf. The sports trophy looks exactly like one that went missing from the home of a young man who was killed two years ago.
