Story
In Trauma and Memory, best-selling author Dr. Peter Levine (creator of the Somatic Experiencing approach) tackles one of the most difficult and controversial questions of PTSD/trauma therapy: Can we trust our memories? While some argue that traumatic memories are unreliable and not useful, others insist that we absolutely must rely on memory to make sense of past experience. Dr. Levine suggests that there are elements of truth in both camps.

Good historic overview
Reviewed: 08-12-20
The book is an interesting overview of historical events/items that are used to prove that our current society based on individual freedoms stems from a judeochristian and athenian root. I think the book is too short to be able to truly dive deep into each historical fact presented, which thus leaves me with a perception that the author is just using tidbits of history to justify his views. For instance summarizing Freud’s contribution to history in a minute and calling him a “quack” surely doesn’t do any justice to his legacy/teachings in our society. Overall though I think the argument from his point stands and is strong, but doesn’t leave me completely convinced of it’s accuracy as need to include further explanations of other religions and their impacts as well.

This book saved my life
Reviewed: 03-14-20
After suffering chronic pain (upper and lower back, sciatica, leg, foot, etc) for almost a year, and after trying all physical therapies possible, I found Dr. Sarnos books and immediately understood the ROOT CAUSE of my illnesses. Through understanding the underlying causes by reading the books, and then focusing on my repressed emotions (through psychotherapy, journaling, meditation, etc) , I was able to overcome my symptoms and returned to having my normal life again, inclusive of excercise (even ran my first full marathon after healing). Dr Sarno was ahead of his time, and I cannot suggest his books enough. Thank You Dr Sarno 🙏
