About this listen

Do you have back, neck, or shoulder pain that keeps recurring or won't go away? Do you have to "baby" your back? Does back pain keep you from living a full life? If so, you may be suffering from TMS - (Tension Myositis Syndrome) - and you don't have to take it anymore!

Dr. John E. Sarno, author of the revolutionary book Mind Over Back Pain, is a medical pioneer whose program has helped patients overcome their back conditions- without drugs or dangerous surgery. Now, using his latest research into TMS, Dr. Sarno goes one step further. After identifying stress and other psychological factors in back pain, he demonstrates how many of his patients have then gone on to heal themselves without exercise or other physical therapy.

Discover why self-motivated and successful people are prone to TMS, how anxiety and repressed anger trigger muscle spasms, how people "train themselves" to experience back pain, and how you may get relief from back pain within two to six weeks by recognizing TMS and its causes.

Believe the Unbelievable

I have been dealing with back bain for over 10 years. I read this book with deep skepticism, but in the end, this book has given me my life back.
Thank you Dr. Sarno

Healing Back Pain

A very thought provoking book which made me ponder the nature of my back pain. I have to admit that since taking the advice of Dr. Sarno I have had considerably less back pain than before. It's not a hard process, rather a change of attitude.
I'm glad I read this book.

Makes Perfect Sense

Would you consider the audio edition of Healing Back Pain to be better than the print version?

The message in this book makes sense and I found the info very helpful. The only drawback is that there is very limited info regarding treatment.

From an M.D. with back pain

Dr. Sarno makes so much sense. My MRI did not show a physical cause of my pain. I had heard of this book but pre-judged it as probably nonsense. But I have begun noticing that mental stress sometimes initiates the pain, and so I bought the book. Just finished listening and am convinced that's the diagnosis.

Provocative!

Sarno makes a very compelling case that back pain is linked to the mind more than the body through a condition called TMS. I have dealt with a lot of back issues in the last few years and I'm in a very healthy place now, so approaching this book without an injury enables me to listen to it without any emotional interference. What do I think? He might be right! Back surgery is a horrendous idea, and I've circled the wagon on it three times in my life, and I thank God that I didn't listen to the voices in my life advocating surgery. I would like to read more about TMS before giving a final verdict, but this is a very interesting read for anyone dealing with back issues. My opinion after four separate recoveries from injury is that they take 10-12 weeks to heal from, regardless of their severity.

Really resonated.

Great stories. His work applies to me and I'm actually looking forward to being present with my repressed anger and stop feeling physical pain. A couple times I got lost into the technically of it and I wish there was more of a to do list at the end. And I got that it's actually quite simple. Feel your feelings. I will listen to his other books as well. Very grateful for this book and his work. Thanks.

Dr Sarno saved Howard Sterns life. Baba. Boost

Have been using the mind/body tech for pain ever since hearing Stern rave about Dr Sarno.
It works. No drugs, surgery, or exercise.

Nailed it!

This book nails it. Not just about back pain, which I don't even really have, but more about the body's ability to manifest physical problems to distract from emotional ones. I was a little weary of this because it sounds very "woo woo" self healing, but it's important to realize that the medical reality is that many people are on disability with absolutely nothing wrong with them. If you go to a doctor with pain, they are going to find something I.e. Slipped disk, bulging disk. Everybody has these. Why isn't everyone debilitated? Read this or get the audiobook. You won't be sorry.
