Story
Twenty-two and knowing no one, Tess leaves home to begin her adult life in New York City. Thus begins a year that is both enchanting and punishing in a low-level job at “the best restaurant in New York City”. Grueling hours and a steep culinary learning curve awaken her to the beauty of oysters, the finest champagnes, the appellations of Burgundy. At the same time, she opens herself to friendships - and love - set against the backdrop of dive bars and late nights.

Not what I was expecting...
Reviewed: 08-22-18
I expected Tess to be more successful, more driven, but she just seemed to continually settle. She seemed so ready to grab life by the horns in the beginning, and it seemed to just kind of fade away. She wanted all the life enriching experiences she could get, but didn't actually seem to aspire for much. I guess it was more realistic and believable than most of the happily ever after crap, just not what I was expecting as the story began spooling up.

Story
This is a practical, relatable, and humorous guide to surviving the difficult, awkward, and rewarding job of being a breastfeeding, working mother. Drawing on the war stories, hacks, and humor of working moms and on her own stories from her demanding job and travel in developing countries, she gives women moral support for dealing with the stress and guilt that come with juggling working and breastfeeding. As she tells the listener in her witty, inspiring manifesto, "Your worth as a mother is not measured in ounces."

You give me hope!
Reviewed: 11-21-17
I'm a female avionics mechanic who's about to have my IUD removed so my husband and I can start working on our third child. I pumped, finished college and had a part time job when we had our first child. I pumped, finished my master's degree and had a full time job after I had our second child. But, now since I am back to working in aviation, I'm VERY nervous about how I will be able to pump when I return to work.
Your book gives me more hope! it was just nice to be reminded that I'm not alone!

I skipped over the section on mini housing since it wasn't applicable to my home, but the other three sections were exactly what I was looking for. it was easy to listen to, wasn't redundant, and short sweet and to the point. Thank you for the series, I really enjoyed it.

Story
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Good but lacking in the end.

overall, I really enjoyed the story, but I thought the ending had a lot to be desired. I just expected much more. Almost every aspect of the story was written in intricate detail, but the ending was just kind of there. I just felt a little let down by the ending.
