Story
The Gordon Riots marked a crucial turning point in the fight for Catholic emancipation. Over the next 50 years, factions battled to reform the laws of the land. Kings George III and George IV refused to address the “Catholic Question,” even when pressed by their prime ministers. But in 1829, through the dogged work of charismatic Irish lawyer Daniel O’Connell and the support of the great Duke of Wellington, the watershed Roman Catholic Relief Act finally passed, opening the door to the radical transformation of the Victorian age.

A Master’s thesis made audible. Every speech, letter or note written or published by every minor or major politician. Historically stultifying and mind numbing. NOT for long drives but great for putting you to sleep. i listened to the end hoping for some context for the Irish Troubles, but was disappointed.

The author could not find anything good to say about any of these apostles. Full of sarcastic conjectures and wild theories and a depressing listen. Treats the Bible like it’s historically worthless. Very disappointing.

The reader’s voice was lilting and sweet but sorry, I could care less about “personality” vs “ behavioral characteristics”. Just tell me what it means when my cat purrs or licks me or smacks her mouth.

An audiobook of a dissertation

Rather deceptive title as the book has little “language of cats” and is rather a very wordy talk of her cat colony observations. I wanted to know why my cat smacks her lips, licks my skin, prefers cheek and throat rubs to petting her ears. I was disappointed.

With its back against the wall, NASA made an almost unimaginable leap: It would scrap its usual methodical approach and risk everything on a sudden launch, sending the first men in history to the moon - in just four months.

Story
For over half a century, scholars have labored to show that C. S. Lewis' famed but apparently disorganized Chronicles of Narnia have an underlying symbolic coherence, pointing to such possible unifying themes as the seven sacraments, the seven deadly sins, and the seven books of Spenser's Faerie Queene. None of these explanations has won general acceptance, and the structure of Narnia's symbolism has remained a mystery.

His delivery is pretentious and so academically wordy that it’s difficult to stay awake! Not good for a long distance drive listen! Even with solid college educations we struggled. We chose this book as we love Lewis’ works, but this analysis left us gasping for air.
