Love evolving through generations. Beautiful
Reviewed: 11-10-14
Would you consider the audio edition of By Winter's Light to be better than the print version?
Matthew Brenher is getting very good at pronouncing and keeping the voices straight, Helena is French so he is missing that accent, but we get her character, it is such a delight to listen, I do prefer audio to print.
What other book might you compare By Winter's Light to and why?
There are not many books that show three generations and their commitment to love.
What does Matthew Brenher bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His rich voice for the Cynster males, and determined females.
And the rhythm, there is a beautiful scene he takes us there the winter wonderland, Stephanie describes it with visual detail, but MB is there.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried every time children and family scenes were described.
Any additional comments?
Can't wait for the next two, of the twins.

Would you listen to Unraveled again? Why?
Yes! was so touched by Unraveled, the way the author dealt with the moral dilemma and compassion, she is a genius. I was all ready impressed with Unveiled in regards to personal pride and the subtlety of Jessica coming into her own, but Smite and Amanda's inner strength plus the difference between Justice and vengeance, wow!! thank you, thank you.
What did you like best about this story?
The last two chapters! But the whole book was necessary for such a delight
Which character ??? as performed by Nicole Quinn ??? was your favorite?
The narrator was excellent on all of them.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Cried in the final scene. The wedding present.
Any additional comments?
Sweet and beautiful with great passion.

Where does The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?
It was one of the books I have been counting the days for it's release and gone beyond my expectations. I have listened to it twice and gone back to certain scenes to savor.
What other book might you compare The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae to and why?
The Devil's Bride, by the same Author, the exciting plot, the reinforcement of the family values and the strength of the characters.
What about Matthew Brenher???s performance did you like?
Matthew Brenher worked out the pace wonderfully, each one of the feelings portrayed in the tremors of his voice, He performed a perfect Dominic and the rest of the Cynster's and I recommend he get Devil's Voice better it's more serious and deeper in other books and I think it wold mach the quality of his leadership. The female voices were perfect.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was profoundly moved by the Love scenes, they had a Spiritual finess related to the truth of each other in such intimacy.

This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
People that love complicated, full of detail and long stories
Would you ever listen to anything by Jacqueline Carey again?
I all ready got another one and am waiting to get in the mood to try it.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Same tone, same mood, I just didn't finish it.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Kushiel's Dart?
Too complicated from the beginning.
Any additional comments?
The narrator made it terrible to listen, a better narrator would probably make it more interesting to grasp.

Happy to be among the Cynsters again!!
Reviewed: 09-16-11
I've read all of the Stephanie Laurens??? world stories, and I can see how the whole group, Cynster???s, Black Cobra, Bastion Club and Adair's characters are growing, in this first book of the trilogy the strong willed and full of pride is the talent and the obstacle for love, the psychological process of coming to terms is very well described. I wish it didn't have to take a near death experience to see what really matters. I can???t wait for the next two books of the trilogy. I miss Simon Prebble simply because I became attached to those voices and he was very consistent through the different books, but Mathew Brenher did a great job, I don't think Richard (Scandal) should have such a Scottish accent since he is English, but the pacing and intensity was very well performed.
