unfortunate language

What disappointed you about The Cold Dish?
Profane language used even in general conversation. We listen as a family and this is not family fare. Quit after a hour or so. Too bad as we like this type of story.
I truly wish that there was a rating for audio books like movies.
I have made this suggestion to audible several times over the years
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger that I spent even the $4.95 on this audio porn.

It is a shame that such a great story had to be destroyed as a family listen by such explicit sex.

Story
Gustav "Old Red" Amlingmeyer is an old-fashioned kind of guy: He prefers a long trail ride even when a train ticket can get him where he's going in one-tenth the time. So when it's Old Red who insists on guarding the Pacific Axpress, despite a generations-old family distrust of the farm stealin', cattle-killin', money-grubbing' railroads, Big Red is flummoxed. But as usual, he'll follow his ornery brother just about anywhere.

I like these books very much and would rate them 5 stars, but the liberal use of vulgar language is a real put off.
I know many will say that "that is the way people talk" and unfortunatly it's true. That dosen't make me like it.
These would be excellant family books, good plot twists, lots of humor and action. But because of the fowel mouthed characters, I wont let my family hear them. I had forgotten how bad they were when I bought this second one. Will not buy any more by this author

Story
Most of the world remembers Crazy Horse as a peerless warrior who brought the U.S. Army to its knees at the Battle of Little Bighorn. But to his fellow Lakota Indians, he was a dutiful son and humble fighting man who, with valor, spirit, respect, and unparalleled leadership, fought for his people's land, livelihood, and honor. In this fascinating biography, Joseph Marshall, himself a Lakota Indian, creates a vibrant portrait of the man, his times, and his legacy.

I have only one thing to add to "ibakidd41's" review. Most authors don't have the voice nessecary to be good readers of audio books, however Mr. Marshall gives an excellent reading. I was compelled by his voice to feel and see what he had written. Don't miss this experience.

Story
In the Nevada desert, an experiment has gone horribly wrong. A cloud of nanoparticles (micro-robots) has escaped from the laboratory. This cloud is self-sustaining and self-reproducing. It is intelligent and learns from experience. For all practical purposes, it is alive. It has been programmed as a predator. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour. Every attempt to destroy it has failed. And we are the prey.

Tipical Sci-fi from this author.
The liberal use of the "f" word damaged what could have been an excelent thriller.

This is Sparks at his best. But then we are in that age group. However, our 12 year old son enjoyed it too.
We did listen to "The Notebook" first, and then followed it with this one the next weekend.
If you enjoy clean romancess, keep a box of tissues handy and listen to both.
