Great content, listen at 1.5x speed
Reviewed: 04-14-24
This book was very interesting. Some very new and concrete ways to communicate your feelings and move forward with others. The speaker is so incredibly slow that I listened to it at 1.5x speed and that sounded normal.

Good content but not clear to the point
Reviewed: 06-30-23
The content and purpose of the book was good enough. But it was too theoretical and clinical for me. It was more than two-thirds into the book when they finally talked about how to apply the learning, and even then they kept bouncing back and forth to the theoretical.

Very well researched with great examples
Reviewed: 07-21-22
What I liked about this book compared to many business books is that their research was broad and credible, and the examples they used really helped to understand the points. It went on a bit of a tangent every now and then, but that’s okay.

Great content, too verbose
Reviewed: 12-03-21
The concept of checklists is great and helpful. However, this could have been an hour piccata not a book. The author often goes into excruciating detail about stores that don’t further our understanding of checklists. It seems like the intended audience for this book is more doctors than anyone else.

Interesting, but mostly outdated by this time
Reviewed: 03-13-21
It was great to hear the story and I feel more knowledgeable about SalesForce. However, this doesn’t translate too well 10 years later, as most is common knowledge now. Plus, at times, it felt like he was patting himself on the back for a whole chapter.

An instant New York Times best seller, Dan Lyons' "hysterical" (Recode) memoir, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "the best book about Silicon Valley," takes listeners inside the maddening world of fad-chasing venture capitalists, sales bros, social climbers, and sociopaths at today's tech startups. For 25 years Dan Lyons was a magazine writer at the top of his profession - until one Friday morning when he received a phone call: Poof. His job no longer existed. "I think they just want to hire younger people," his boss at Newsweek told him.

Fish out of water complains about everything
Reviewed: 10-07-20
The author is a fish out of water joining a tech company, and basically complains about everything that he experiences. He admittedly joined a tech startup after losing his job in journalism to make more money and see upside. It's clearly not a good fit.
I was hoping for more insights on the experience and the author's exploration of why things are this way. But he seemed to offer none and just complained about the minutia of all interactions.
It was well written, well narrated, and I laughed out loud a couple times. For that, you get a second star.

The world's greatest problem-solvers, forecasters, and decision-makers all rely on a set of frameworks and shortcuts that help them cut through complexity and separate good ideas from bad ones. They're called mental models, and you can find them in dense textbooks on psychology, physics, economics, and more. Or, you can just listen to Super Thinking, a fun, illustrated guide to every mental model you could possibly need.

Good information, but too many and too high level
Reviewed: 09-14-20
This is good content for anyone to know. It just seemed to try and cover too many topics, so each is very quick and superficial. Very helpful to know what exists, and then you can do more research.
