Story
Long before Earth began conquering her neighboring stars, Legion Varus was deployed on Tau Ceti. Valuable and highly illegal treasures were stolen during the campaign, but McGill never gave it a second thought. The Tau haven’t forgotten him, however. For decades, they’ve hunted and plotted, and at last they’ve found the pirate who robbed them. Tau agents invade Earth seeking revenge and profit. Caught up in violence and intrigue, McGill is given the task of finding out where the loot has gone and who was responsible for the theft in the first place.

WORTH THE WAIT!

I have been counting the days till this edition was available and I am thoroughly impressed.....AGAIN!! INSTALLMENT 16 IS FANTASTIC!!!
There are so many plot twists and turns that a FORMULA ONE driver would have white knuckles on the wheel.
BV Larsen brings back many of ol' McGuill's nemisses and Vera's legion in such a way that if you have not been an undying soldier, you will still be able to enjoy. As far as I'm concerned, BV Larsen is a true syifi MASTER. And Mark Boyett brings these characters and their predicaments to absolute REAL LIFE. I FEEL LIKE I WAS WATCHING A MOVIE and not listening to a book!!
LARSEN AND BOYETT CREATE ANOTHER MASTERFUL INSTALLMENT OF THE UNDYING SOLDIERS....( please 🙏... do a 17th
😎👍)

The planet is called Banshee. The air is unbreathable, the water poisonous. It is the home of the most implacable enemies that humanity, in all its interstellar expansion, has ever encountered. Felix is a scout in A-team Two. Highly competent, he is the sole survivor of mission after mission. Yet he is a man consumed by fear and hatred.

I was a tank mechanic in the 90s around the time this book came out. I was a 63-E20 Abraham's hull and turret. I can tell you now( because it's long since declassified) it took 4 men, a 1500 hp gas turbine and 72 tons of depleted uranium deflective/reactive armor to accomplish what 1 person does in this story.
There are so many twists and turns it will give a FORMULA ONE driver a hard time, ear to ear grin, and a death grip on the steering wheel while yelling faster!!FASTER!!
Too bad John Steakley didn't write anymore. BV Larsen to Tom Clancy would be in serious jeopardy jealousy....
my top 3 Sci fy books of all time are Greg Bears EON , Anything from BV Larsen, AND THIS.
I guarantee you will like it! And if not, I'll refund you the price of this review...🙃

Story
Captain Keyes is loved by the public but hated by Command. He captains the UHS Providence, an aging supercarrier and the last human ship not dependent on dark tech - technology humanity has used to rule over the galaxy since barely defeating the Ixa in the First Galactic War. Dominance has come at a cost. Over the decades, old allies have grown resentful, and when dark tech itself fails, Captain Keyes’ predictions start coming true: those old allies are now enemies.

HANG TOUGH!

This is not one of Scott Bartlett's best but Mark Boyett's SOLID Narration pulls everything across the finish line in a respectable position. The story has its up and downs but everything that happens at least 500 years in the future gets at least 3 stars from me, so you can say I'm biased.
Eventually quantity will overlap quality and at chapter 147, Scott Bartlett hits PROPHESY level writing, almost Orwellian..nostradamos level. This series was written several years ago (that's why it's free for book club members), but I'll be dipped in dog doo if what happens in chapter 147 is not true today. You have to listen up to and including 147 before I'll put on my bathing suit and take that dip.
SOLID 4.5

When Kell and his team return to Earth many years after their departure, they find that their world has changed almost beyond recognition. Not only has a second wave of greenhouse flooding caused sea levels to rise, but society has been changed by the consequences of the climate shift. Few people want to face Jordan Kell's news. He must convince Earth's new rulers that the human race is in danger of extinction unless it acts to forestall the death wave coming from the galaxy's heart.

Struggled to finish it. If it weren't for the fact that I'm partial to stephan R's voice and narration, I probably would have stopped after about 1/4 of the book.
the characters seemed shallow and stereotypical and the storyline was weak. It just didn't deliver, thre was so much potential. The super massive black holes in the center of the universe are real, and gravitational waves DO travel at the speed of light, but would it drop off or super pulse?!! are the people in the other worlds friendly or bugs? or a thousand other possibilities.
this book never leaves earth in more ways than one.

Years after clean energy ended the world’s reliance on fossil fuels, a lull of peace encompasses all of humanity. Some think we should travel to the distant corners of the galaxy; others oppose the idea, thinking that the harnessed singularity reactors are unnatural. When a terrorist group attacks the Lunar colony, members of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force are divided as a result of the incursion. Years later, Lieutenant Commander Kyle Torres comes face to face with old friends, as he’s thrown into an assignment that could change everything.

It was a little hard to get into this story, because at the beginning, the characters were stereotypical marine overdriven ego. Surprisingly, about 1/4 into book one, the characters land the banter start to fill out and become real people. On top of that, the narrator's voice control, pitch, cadence are remarkable and clearly delineate the characters as PEOPLE TALKING, in all different conditions, from barroom brawling to high action combat, to mournful funerals for thier lost. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Give it a chance.

LOVED IT.
I have binge listed to all the "UNDYING SOLDIERS" and doing the same again with "STAR FORCE".
I am literally entranced....I hear every shot, see every planet....and sometimes, because I am a retired veteran, I can smell the blood and burning bodies. I've never smelled aliens burning or blood, but I would re-enlist with STAR FORCE.
(I'd have to get the nano treatment because I'm 55....but hey. ......it's all fiction......for now.)
I need AA BADLY!! (AUDIOBOOKS ANONYMOUS)...IM ADDICTED!!....
