About this listen

The Dotari Salvation, book 1:

When the Terran Union has a mission that must not fail, it calls upon the Strike Marines. They are trained to improvise, adapt, overcome and win every fight.

A deadly disease threatens the Dotari, Earth’s allies, with extinction. The cure lies in deep space, and Lieutenant Hoffman and his team will join the starship Breitenfeld as it journeys into the void and makes a desperate attempt to save the dying race. Lurking in the abyss is a threat that’s waited with inhuman patience. Hoffman must lead his Marines through a gauntlet and evade a foe designed to hunt and kill them.

The Rage of Winter, book 2:

One Shot. One Kill. One sniper to strike fear in the heart of alien invaders.

Hoffman’s Strike Marines pursue enemy agents across a wintry world, desperate to stop an insidious threat festering in the heart of the Terran Union. Their hunt is disrupted when the fanatical Kesaht invade and the team is split across the snow and ice of a harsh planet. The team’s sniper, Duke, plays a deadly game of hit-and-run to slow the aliens' advance and earns the ire of the enemy commander. Hoffman, trapped in the frigid wilds, leads his Marines and their cunning prisoners back to the front, where they must join the fight against the Kesaht before the planet is lost.

Terran Strike Marines: Publisher's Pack is an action-packed military science-fiction adventure set in the best-selling Ember War universe.

The spark from the ember war series is reignited!

the saga continues with new characters and new challenges written with the same heart as the ember war series.

Good in it's genre, but just not for me.

I had a very hard time listening to this Audible. In fact, I have skipped over it before finishing the first book. Sorry bout this, but I am just saying it like it is. You may very well get a whole lot more mileage out of it. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Luke Daniels is FANTASTIC!

It was a little hard to get into this story, because at the beginning, the characters were stereotypical marine overdriven ego. Surprisingly, about 1/4 into book one, the characters land the banter start to fill out and become real people. On top of that, the narrator's voice control, pitch, cadence are remarkable and clearly delineate the characters as PEOPLE TALKING, in all different conditions, from barroom brawling to high action combat, to mournful funerals for thier lost. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Give it a chance.

Great!

Love the series, only issue was the playback speed or the reading seemed sped up, slowed playback to .90 and it was perfect.

Great stories

Great stories, great characters and well read. I hadn't read/listened to the other series that this series is a spin off from first but I didn't have any trouble following along. I will be checking out the other series.

“Wanna pinch?”

I like a good battle full of hates, ingrates, politicians, and in general, well rounded bad asses. To meet and defeat this lot, I cheer for the hero’s, the leaders, the Good Guys who wear uniforms unrecognizable because of blood and brain matter and stagger for the want of sleep, a hot meal, and a miracle of a hot shower. The only missing component for a Really Good book is that one snarky, wise crackin’ character that despite his ‘R’ rated soul is in the thick of it defending the innocents, his Brothers-in-Arms, and his Ideals. Spend one whole credit to get volumes one and two of Terran Strike Marines. They have all the right components, especially a fine Snarky Guy!

I was just looking for some mind candy, and I came up with a full-course meal. totally worth the credit! I'll be getting some more credits just for these guys... and to the narrator: you sir are Rockstar! you're right up there with RC Bray and my books.

Great series!

I really have enjoyed the Strike Marine books and how they intertwine with the Terran Armor books. Do yourself a favor and look into the chronological reading order for these. I listened to this pack together and found myself out of sequence when I went back to the Terran armor books.

As far as these two books go, the Dotari Salvation is really, really good, but the Rage of Winter is solid and worth reading, but not quite as good. Altogether, I really enjoyed them.
