unbelievable story

This story wasn't in the least bit believable. I admit I stuck out to the of it's 100% predictable ending. if you like ridiculous stories try Dean kontz . At least his tongue in cheek approach is humorous.

Story
The year that changed everything for the Beatles was 1966 - the year of their last concert and of Revolver, their first album created to be listened to rather than performed. This was the year the Beatles risked their popularity by retiring from live performances, recording songs that explored alternative states of consciousness, experimenting with avant-garde ideas, and speaking their minds on issues of politics, war, and religion. Music journalist and Beatles expert Steve Turner investigates the enormous changes that took place in the Beatles' lives and work during 1966.

Boring reader and story
Reviewed: 11-02-24
I think the Beatles would not have endorsed this book. The author and reader have a snobby attitude that I don't believe reflects the Beatles. I may be wrong - but this guy acts like the Beatles were gods. Maybe I didn't listen long enough - and the Beatles were like this in 66, but this reading put me off and I returned the title after two chapters. A MUCH better Beatles book:

I thought I was going to crawl out of my skin if I heard "Cabrillo" mispronounced one more time. The background music made it hard to understand the dialogue when I was on my bicycle.

Story
Dave Robicheaux felt the bone-grinding pain rip through his body as the .45 did its damage. Through the agonizing haze that enveloped him, he heard an almost inhuman laugh - the hideous, victorious cackling of Jimmie Lee Boggs - a sound he would never forget. It had started out as an ordinary prisoner transfer, then turned into a blood bath when the convicted murderer got hold of a gun.

OK, but not the best

What did you love best about A Morning for Flamingoes?
Burke continues his excellent prose with Robicheaux's gritty reality offset by his own mental demons.
What other book might you compare A Morning for Flamingoes to and why?
The story line is similar to previous Robicheaux novels - and continues the story of the New Orleans detective. Check out "Neon Rain" for a great novel and narration.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I guess I prefer Will Patton's narrations over Mark Hammer's. This is probably a personal preference that you may not share.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I don't have the time to listen to a book in one setting, generally, but I nearly did just that with the "Neon Rain"
