Exciting Fantasy Read
Reviewed: 12-28-20
I'm not a huge fantasy fan when it comes to reading, but this book caught my attention and actually managed to keep it. Which is not something that is easy to do when it comes to fantasy books. I did enjoy this book, not as much as I hoped, but it was filled with lots of suspense which kept me on my toes. That definitely helped to keep me interested until the end, and I definitely have to say that the ending was jammed packed with lots of action that I was not expecting.
I'm unsure if I will continue with the rest of the series as of now, but I'm glad that I read the first series of this book.

Story
Meet Blaire. An underachieving college student with zero prospects and a ton of issues (hey, being the less-successful twin of a gorgeous supermodel would totally do that to you). She doesn't do bad boys. Actually, she doesn't do boys, like, at all. Not that she's a lesbian. And not that there's anything wrong with being one. It's just that...well...she kind of needs to focus on graduating from college right now.

Loved it!
Reviewed: 10-18-20
I was so excited to read this, because I love books with a main character whos a boxer/fighter of some kind. This did not dissapoint at all. Ty was all badass and brooding. Blair was sweet and sassy. Two of my favorite type of characters in one of my favorite types of books.
LJ Shen most definitely did not dissapoint. Plus I loved all of the supporting characters, especially Blaire's grandma. She might be my favorite person ever right now, and I need a grandma like that in my life.
The narrator did a really good job of playing all the characters, especially the grandma's Russian accent (I believe it was suppose to be Russian). She was great and giving everyone their own voice and making sure all the characters stood out in their own way.

Jolie Louis is a smart girl. She knows that her best friend, Sage Poirier, is a bad idea. He's a walking, talking cliché. The Adonis quarterback with the bulging biceps and harem of fangirls trailing behind him on campus like a stench you can't get rid of. Sadly, that's also the reason she can't stay away from him. Well, that and the fact that they're roommates. Jolie is already straddling the line between friendship and more when Sage comes to her with an offer she cannot refuse.

Short, Sweet, Simple, and too the point. That's what I loved about this. Sometimes after reading books that take me hours or days to read I like a nice book that only takes a couple hours.
Plus that epilogue with the wedding scene was the most adorable thing I've ever read in my entire life. LJ did an amazing job writing a short and sweet book that I feel everyone could love.

Story
Emily’s entire existence is wrapped up in touring with her up-and-coming country rock band Carolina George and trying to build them into a music legend. Her passionate night with a gorgeous, tattooed bad boy was the result of too much time on the road, too much tequila and combustible physical chemistry. It was never supposed to follow her into the light of day, much less threaten everything she and the band have worked so hard to create.

Royce and Emily are FIRE!! I love these two so much. I devoured this book, and I can't wait for the next book in the series because I've loved each book more and more!!
Right now I just need more of some Royce and Emily though because that ending was not enough for me. Whether it was happy ending or not I just need more of them. I hope we get to see more glimpses of them in the next book, or anytime in the future,, because I can't have this be the end for them.

Story
I didn't mean to star in a sex tape, okay? It was just one of those unexplainable things. Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds. It just happened. Now, my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston's nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan. The virginal archer is supposed to babysit my ass while I learn to take my place in Royal Pipelines, my family's oil company. Little does she know, that's not the only pipe I'll be laying....

It Was Great

I love LJ Shen's writing and I really did love this book, but as much as I'd love to give this book 5 stars I can't. The male character of the story just rubs me the wrong way in this story. He's just not my favorite of the male character she's written.
Now Sailor on the other hand is sassy and knows how to stand up for herself and I loved her. She's exactly what I want in heroine of story. Plus she's a professional archer. That's pretty badass.
Although I wasn't a big fan of Hunter as a character I did love him and Sailor together, and he did eventually start to change some of colors. Which made him a little more likeable for me.

My name is Ryan Kingston, and I’m a rule follower. I’ve never been in a fistfight. I always obey the speed limit. I don’t get drunk, and I definitely don’t pick up random women at bars. Except the night I found out that my whole existence has been a lie. I got drunk. And picked up a stranger. Her name was Queenie, and she was everything I’m not: reckless, impulsive, and chaotic. We did shots and traded secrets. And ended up naked at my place. Six weeks later I’m sitting in the first official team meeting of the season, and there she is.

Different but Still Loved It
Reviewed: 07-05-20
This wasn't like all the rest of Helena Hunting books that I've read, or the rest of the books in the series so far. Instead of a kind of slow burn romance they pretty much started off together straight from, and then just added some drama in to make sure it wouldn't be all rainbows and unicorns for the happy couple because that would be too easy.
Even though it was different I still really enjoyed. Queenie was different from the rest of her female characters that she rights to. Although she's still a mess she wasn't as eccentric as Violet or Stevie from before she was a little more put together, and throw in a little bit to choas just even out all of Kingston's put togetherness.
I enjoyed how different this book was from the rest, and she hinted at the end about maybe something about Queenie's dad finding a love interest. Fingers crossed we get to read that in the future.

When I joined Seattle's NHL expansion team, I thought it was the start of something great. But nothing ever goes the way you expect. Take my introduction to my new neighbor. She came rolling in on the hot mess express at midnight, making a racket while she tried to get into my team captain's apartment. Did I mention that he's married to a woman who definitely was not her?

Helena Hunting is always so good at writing fun and quirky female characters and Stevie was no different this time. Plus I just loved Bishop and her together. She always does such a good job of making her stories light hearted and fun, but of course adding in the serious moments when they need to happen, but she breaks them up with lots of humor.
I just love the way she writes her characters, and tells the story between Stevie and Bishop, or really any of her stories.

Reviewed: 05-22-20
So I have to admit that I watched the show for Outlander before reading the book. Mostly because I didn't even know it was even based off a book. So when I found out I just had to read it, because I absolutely love the show. The book lived up to all the expectations I had for it! I was most definitely not dissapointed.
I love historic novels, and Diana Gabaldon did an amazing job writing this book. I've heard from tons of people that she did lots of research to make sure that the historical facts she put in her novels were true, and it most definitely paid off.
Davina Porter does an amazing job of narrating this book, and she did an amazing job of voicing all characters within the book. Especially since sometimes when you have only a female doing the voice acting I can sometimes find them playing the male roles to be annoying, but she did a great job.

They say your first kiss should be earned. Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky. They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred. Mine were broken before we left church. They say your heart only beats for one man. Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end. I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit. Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.
