Publisher's summary

Boston's debauched elite is going up in flames, and it's the Fitzpatrick family that set it on fire.

Hunter

I didn't mean to star in a sex tape, okay?

It was just one of those unexplainable things.

Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds.

It just happened.

Now, my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston's nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan.

The virginal archer is supposed to babysit my ass while I learn to take my place in Royal Pipelines, my family's oil company.

Little does she know, that's not the only pipe I'll be laying....

Sailor

I didn’t want this gig, okay?

But the deal was too sweet to walk away from.

I needed the public endorsement; Hunter needed a nanny.

Besides, what’s six months in the grand scheme of things?

It's not like I'm in danger of falling in love with the appallingly gorgeous, charismatic gazillionaire who happens to be one of Boston's most eligible bachelors.

No. I will remain immune to Hunter Fitzpatrick's charm.

Even at the cost of losing everything I have.

Even at the cost of burning down his kingdom.

Ignore negative reviews

I really like this author's works. I was disappointed to see such harsh reviews about the narrators by several other readers when considering listening to this book. I do see their argument regarding the age of the characters v. the talents of these particular narrators. While it may have not been the best fit, someone did point out that is most likely not the author or narrators fault. It was not distracting or poorly done. It did not take away from the story. There are narrators that make me cringe and stop listening but that wasn't the case here. I don't normally leave many reviews but I've passed on books based on negative reviews such as the ones I had read here. If you enjoy this author's writing ability as I do, decide for yourself. I enjoyed the listen, burst out laughing several times, and will start the second book next. You can always listen to the sample audio first before you commit.

Wow!!!!!

Hot times 100!!!

The Hunter was so sexy and hot that I listened to it straight through. I did not stop listening until the end. I need some Hunter in my life. He is so loyal to those he cares about it, you can't help but adore him. And sweet, fiesty Sailor is the perfect match in spirit and sex appeal to tame Hunter. Loved this story! Hope there's more to come!!!

Another unique story

"He was fearless, and a rebel, and a sinner, and a saint."

LJ Shen has turned her book world upside down! The Hunter is a crossover of sorts. Hunter Fitzpatrick is featured in the All Saints High series and Sailor Brennan is the daughter of Sparrow and Troy Brennan from Shen’s “Sparrow.”

Hunter and Sailor are thrown together for many reasons. Some are known and others are revealed later. Their story is layered with dreams, aspirations, promises and heartbreak. I love Sailor’s character. Her heart is pure and genuine. Her relationship with her family is beautiful. And yet she still has fears and anxieties.

Hunter did not whisk me away as I thought he would. I loved watching him grow and learning about his doubts and insecurities. His intelligence is skimmed over. I wished that he would have opened his heart sooner in the story.

"He was a lonely prince—untouchable, yet in need of a hug. Brilliant, yet deeply misunderstood. Sitting on a throne of broken expectations and disappointment."

Overall I enjoyed The Hunter and look forward to the next in the Boston Belles series. LJ Shen has left us with some delicious crumbs to tease us! Who will it be????

"She was the princess in the ivory tower, and he was the punk who was going to steal and corrupt her on his lunch break from setting the world on fire."

Narrator Virginia Rose and Jason Clarke did an amazing job with bringing Hunter and Sailor to life. I loved Sailor's Boston accent!

Fun ride

This is definitely one of LJ Shen’s lighter books (though still angsty of course). It has great witty banter and some mystery! It was more predictable than some of her others, but I think it was suppose to be like that (at least for one of them). Overall it’s very enjoyable and the narration is fantastic!!

Pretty Good

I have to admit; I wasn't planning on reading Hunter's story. I first met him in "The Villian" and had decided he sounded too much like a frat boy to warrant listening to his story. But I listened to it after reading "The Monster" because of a couple of things. First, I wanted to learn more about Sam, and I also wanted to see more of him and Troy (from her book 'Sparrow'). I was disappointed in the lack of appearance of her family. Second, I was a little interested in how their daughter turned out; after learning these were the same people from 'Sparrow.' I was pleasantly surprised.

Hunter wasn't the 'frat boy' that I had exactly pegged him as. There is a little more to him. He's not my favorite of the four (or five if you include Troy) boys tied to this series, Sam is, but he's still interesting. My main issue with this story was how everything clears up at the end, all within the last 1-2 hours of the story. I prefer how 'The Monster' handles the drama where one problem is resolved then another a while down.

Personally, I also hated the conflict between Lana and Sailor. I skipped most of the chapter containing it. I was over their 'unspoken problem' by the time it was finally told to us what it was - never mind the fact it was a little beyond my scope of 'bad.' (sorry, involving animals is where it crosses the line for me - it's only mentioned in one five minute section. I would still read the book, just skip a lot of chapter 22). I also didn't really enjoy how the problem Hunter was dealing with was resolved either (mostly, the confrontation and following conversation with his mother just didn't make logical sense to me. I was fine with the reason it played out as it had otherwise).

As I also mentioned, I wish there had been more of Troy, Sparrow, and Sam. She is supposed to be really close to them, but they only make short appearances.

Overall, it's a pretty good listen. They are not my favorite of the Boston bells series or its prequel, Sparrow, or of those couples, but it's okay. It adds some context to the stories following this and gives Sailor a future. It's also significantly lighter than the other books.

Entertaining

First, the narration is great. Virginia and Jason did an amazing job.
Second, Sailor is wicked awesome. I want to be her when I grow up.
Third, I wanted to junkpunch Hunter several times during this book - although I did have to give him props for showing Sailor his true feelings near the end. Still, there were comments throughout the story that didn’t sit right with me.
Overall, I generally enjoyed the story and their blossoming relationship, the cameo from Luna and Knight was also appreciated.

Great beginning to a new series

4 stars didn’t give the 5 star only because the book is not all that original BUT I like this author because it’s someone I can always count on to have a great listen.voice actors were great. The sexy scenes are hot as always for Shen and shows growth in the characters through the story. Can’t wait to hear Killian’s story ( wonder who will be the female lead)🔥❤️ definitely worth a credit .

Loved Hunter and Sailors story

This is classic Shen - left you wanting the next in the series. We have known Hunter as the massive Playboy and smartass that he is. And Sailor is Sparrow and Troys daughter so we knew she would have a mouth of sass. The 2’s chemistry is electric. The book had angst and fire 🔥. I loved both of their journeys to discovering their true potential. It is a must. Narration was perfect. Another grand slam for Shen.

Loved the story.....

I am a big fan of Jason Clarke!!! & L.J. Shen, but I felt both narrators' voices were just a bit older for an eighteen & nineteen year old.

I really enjoyed the story though. If you can get passed the issue with the voices, you won't be disappointed!

Wow!!! Definitely a must get!!

I really enjoyed this storyline from the beginning to the end... I was definitely intrigued. I’m so happy that other characters from different stories were combined with new characters as well into this book.Totally loved how smoothly it made all sense. The author doesn’t disappoint. If you enjoy humor, hot sex scenes, with adventure and romance then this is a book for you. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did. Narrators did a fantastic job bring characters to life. I love love jason Clarke. *sigh* excellent choice for him doing this piece. Well anyways they did a great job and the pace was perfect. Enjoy!
