Story
From Salatin's point of view, life in the 21st century just ain't normal. In Folks, This Ain't Normal, he discusses how far removed we are from the simple, sustainable joy that comes from living close to the land and the people we love. Salatin has many thoughts on what normal is and shares practical and philosophical ideas for changing our lives in small ways that have big impact. Salatin urges people to take a better look at their food: What's in it, where is it coming from, and how did it get the table?

Story
Back on Earth with nothing more to show for his long, strange trip through time and space than a ratty towel and a plastic shopping bag, Arthur Dent is ready to believe that the past eight years were all just a figment of his stressed-out imagination. But a gift-wrapped fishbowl with a cryptic inscription, the mysterious disappearance of Earth’s dolphins, and the discovery of his battered copy of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy all conspire to give Arthur the sneaking suspicion that something otherworldly is indeed going on.

This installment switched location and character focus, but kept the unique style. After reading first in series I did not go on, as was looking more for standard serious but dangerous new world sci fi - I moved to the Expanse series and enjoyed that to the end. I came back later for something different and funny and philosophical and upbeat. I had already bought the second book and I fell into it more...so here I am reviewing the 4th while reading the 5th. I needed a series to make fun of the crazy world getting me down. This worked.

Seemed like synopsis rather than story

Seemed minimal effort put forth. They threw out a couple 'This happened' without any details. I never became engaged in the story, and made me feel that the story they were thinking of telling was too tiresome to get into so they didn't. The overly grandious narrator, led me to believe it was going to work into comical parody. Didn't like any of characters.

Story
To the Chinese the dragon is not an evil creature, but is a god and the friend of men who worship him. He "holds in his power prosperity and peace." Ruling the waters and the winds, he sends the good rain, is hence the symbol of fecundity. In the Hsia dynasty two dragons fought a great duel until both disappeared, leaving only a fertile foam from which were born the descendants of the Hsia. Thus, the dragons came to be looked upon as the ancestors of a race of heroes. This is the story of China at War.

This story gave insight of their culture as why they thought and acted. Yet was so relatable to average people dealing with losing all their expectations for their lives thrown into an unexpected future of strife and loss of prosperity with no return to the past as well as next generations trying to find their purpose and self worth going forward.

And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I had a hard time getting into this, as I was looking afraid it would take a depressing turn and follow predictable old territory. Instead I became more involved with the characters and following it further and further into the future. Very happy with what it delivered.
