Story
"I am the descendant of drinkers and drifters better at passing on their love for the bottle than family history...". Prepare yourself for an unvarnished, harrowing look at one Christian's life. A powerful memoir of knowing and being known by God through the pain of loss, tragedy, and brokenness - Even in Our Darkness explores what it means to fend off doubt and despair, even in the most painful trials. Jack Deere tells the true story of his life growing up near Fort Worth, Texas in the 1950's and the disintegration of his family following his father's suicide.

Honest. Raw. Real.
Reviewed: 03-12-18
What a revealing and honest work that has been produced. It is the story of awful and tender graces that make up a life. Jack Deere has presented us with a look behind the curtain. The facade so often worn by spiritual leaders is vulnerably destroyed and in its place, an Ebenezer is erected to the goodness of God.

Story
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Enjoyed hearing the history of Watergate as retold by Colson. The performance by Jon Gauger was one of the best I've listened to on Audible. Colson's story of redemption and faith is encouraging and a reminder that our stories are simply a part of God's greater story that he is writing.

Greenberg as always captures the attention and educates the listener with ease and wit. His course on the 30 Greatest Orchestral Works is very excellent too... This particular lecture was long enough to satisfy and short enough to make time.
