Story
Once upon a time, a no-frills J.Crew rollneck sweater held an almost mystical power—or at least it felt that way. The story of J.Crew is the story of the original “lifestyle brand,” whose evolution charts a sea change in the way we dress, the way we shop, and who we aspire to be over the past four decades—all told through iconic clothes and the most riveting characters imaginable.

Story
As a child, Anna Wintour was a tomboy with no apparent interest in clothing but, seduced by the miniskirts and bob haircuts of swinging 1960s London, she grew into a fashion-obsessed teenager. Her father, an influential newspaper editor, loomed large in her life, and once he decided she should become editor-in-chief of Vogue, she never looked back.

Extremely well written biography
Reviewed: 08-09-22
I loved this biography. Amy Odell did exhaustive research and interviews from Anna’s early life to the present. The people associated painted a vivid picture of a person who is such and enigma in so many ways. The reader is very reserved. Others have found her boring but I felt that she was a perfect tone for a woman who is half-British and publicly, very reserved. Great read!

Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

By digging into the data, Oster found that much of the conventional pregnancy wisdom was wrong. In Cribsheet, she now tackles an even great challenge: decision-making in the early years of parenting.

Story
When Condé Nast offered Ruth Reichl the top position at America’s oldest epicurean magazine, she declined. She was a writer, not a manager, and had no inclination to be anyone’s boss. Yet Reichl had been reading Gourmet since she was eight; it had inspired her career. How could she say no? This is the story of a former Berkeley hippie entering the corporate world and worrying about losing her soul. It is the story of the moment restaurants became an important part of popular culture, a time when the rise of the farm-to-table movement changed, forever, the way we eat.

Ally was at a breaking point when she woke up in a psych ward at the age of 18. She couldn't put a sentence together, let alone take a shower, eat a meal, or pick up a phone. What had gone wrong? In recent years, she had produced a feature film, a popular reality show for a major network, and had acted in an off-Broadway play. But now Ally was pushed to a psychotic break after struggling since she was seven years old with physical symptoms that no doctor could explain - everything from joint pain to night sweats, memory loss, nausea, and brain fog.

Interesting but difficult to relate
Reviewed: 09-26-18
This was an interesting listen. As always, much better to have the author reading because the listener really gets her tone. Her story is astounding and having had a friend with chronic Lyme, it gave me much better insight into what it must have been like for my friend to struggle for so long. Ally Hilfiger comes from such and extraordinary background, that is is a little difficult to relate to her. Nonetheless, an interesting read and quite a story.

Always great to revisit Becky et al. But this round felt a little played out. Hated the cliffhanger in the last book and was looking forward to this one. As always, a fun story but a little far fetched, well more then usual.
