Story
If you would have told a young John Stamos flipping burgers at his dad’s fast-food joint that one day he’d be a household name and that, at the height of his success, he’d be living alone, divorced, with no kids, high on a cocktail of forgetting, he might’ve asked, “You want fries with that?”

I found I liked this man and how he grew up and evolved. He didn’t try to sugarcoat anything. So if you want to know more about the man, this is really the book to read!

Going on a very long drive? This is for you

I wasn’t but needed to have a long something to keep my brain occupied while I did something boring! This series is nice and long and met my needs.
It’s a fun series with a couple of great narrators. The characters are well defined and act accordingly. I loved each and every one of them! I may not have figured what kind of trouble they were going to get into but when they did, it was a joy to listen.
An added fun was the author’s notes. I wish she lived next door so we could share a cupper!

Story
If it weren’t for Emma Johnson, Caryn Johnson would have never become Whoopi Goldberg. Emma gave her children the loving care and wisdom they needed to succeed in life, always encouraging them to be true to themselves. When Whoopi lost her mother in 2010—and then her older brother, Clyde, five years later—she felt deeply alone; the only people who truly knew her were gone. Emma raised her children not just to survive, but to thrive. In this intimate and heartfelt memoir, Whoopi shares many of the deeply personal stories of their lives together for the first time.

Story
A modern American classic and a family saga that spans decades, this is the story of the volatile Tom Wingo, his brilliant but troubled twin sister, Savannah, and the complex and damaging family legacy they share. Moving between the sparkling glamour of New York City and the vanishing beauty of the South Carolina low country, The Prince of Tides is Pat Conroy’s masterwork.

Words are so important
Reviewed: 05-02-24
So many beautiful strings of words. The story is good at the telling. I’m going to recommend this to my husband as I really thought I was hearing it told through a man. Is it long, yes. But it is still worth the telling of the complexities of a family. Try it and you too will most likely be drawn in.

A remarkable story!!!
Reviewed: 09-25-23
I’ve read many books about slavery in the south before the war between the states. This one is way up in my list of favorites! Many of my relatives were from the south. The writer presents an unusual portrait. Said well the remark that this story is different from the way most writers portrays the pre civil war south.
I must not forget the time travel aspect.
It’s late at night and I may not presenting this book as well as I would like so I will say “you just have to read/listen this book!!!

Story
In American on Purpose, Craig Ferguson delivers a moving and achingly funny memoir of living the American dream as he journeys from the mean streets of Glasgow, Scotland, to the comedic promised land of Hollywood. Along the way, he stumbles through several attempts to make his mark - as a punk rock musician, a construction worker, a bouncer, and, tragically, a modern dancer.

I watch him from start to finish of his late shows! And this book is just the cherry on top! I do wish he would come back. He was never like any ones else! He would change up things, like have a one on one show! I live when he made fun of himself that is carried in this book. I hope you enjoy a one on one with himself as much as I!

Young for me…a lady 77years old. But as my hands were elsewhere engaged, I kept listening. I found myself enjoying the book as I thought back to teen years. I found that not much has changed since I was a teenager. So while the younger audience may find themselves or some of their friends, older audiences may like to see if they resemble so of the characters.
