Story
In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Although an air of menace hangs over these men, an infinitely greater threat has arrived, one so strange even the island animals are in a state of high alarm.

Great book!

This was my first Dean Koontz book, and I loved it! My parents have always been big fans of his, and now I see why. I'm excited to listen/read more of his books.
Coincidentally, I have a big heart for foxes and fox is part of my son's nickname, so of course it made me love the story that much more.

Hard to get passed the young narrator
Reviewed: 04-03-20
They changed the narrator from the first 3 books. This one is too young and sounds like she 11.

SO GOOD!
Reviewed: 02-19-20
Colleen has to be one of my most favorite authors. I was so freakin happy when I found out that she was coming out with another book. I always get this giddy feeling, and It's literally all that I can think about, before I can get my hands on it. I'v read every single book written by Colleen, and I have NEVER been disappointed. This book was SO SO good. I laughed. I cried. I LOVE when a book can give me all the feelings. This was my first audio book, and I really enjoyed being able to listen to it, while getting things done at the same time. I'm usually torn between getting things done or going and curling up with a book, so I really enjoyed listening to it. Thank you Colleen for another great book!
