Martin is hardly the Tolkien he seems to fancy himself; however, at least he's finally developing some plot which the last two books woefully lacked.

fluff and filler
Reviewed: 08-03-17
By far the worst of the 3, seems to have about 25 percent plot and 75 percent filler. If you didn't know it was going somewhere and want to know where, you would quit reading at this point because you've just been ripped off a bunch of dollars and hours, though being audio, the narrator saves the performance.

This was a total waste, if it hadn't been a "daily deal" I'd demand a refund. Avoid it and listen to anything else, which will be better.

When the Colony on Hayden's world went black, a team was sent to investigate. It was supposed to be a training mission: skip in, find out the Casimir Transmitter had gone dead, report back and wait for resupply from the Fleet. By the time the only surviving member of the team made landfall, it was spectacularly clear that this wasn't a training mission.

Glaringly incomplete and highly disappointing
Reviewed: 03-12-16
This "book" was obviously not a story, but a chapter, because 3 or 5 or 10 books cost more than 1. If you don't want to commit to buy them all, don't get this, it hardly stands alone or tells a story, other than how to market the first 20 minutes of a 3 hour movie as an entire movie. Glaringly incomplete and highly disappointing.

Entertaining, though like many sequels, it doesn't compare to the first novel, less believeable, but still interesting and fun to hear more from Slim Justice.

She understands them, knows what makes them tick. Why? Because she might be one herself. Lane channels her dark impulses by hunting criminals - delivering justice when the law fails. ..in audiobook format. I know women can write compelling mysteries, and I know women can narrate compelling mysteries. Unfortunately, you will find none of that here. If you are fond of 18,000 sentences to hear "2 things happened" and every detail about hair and clothes of every character, you'll love this book, however, it's torturing me. Narrator may have been the voice of Marge Simpson and her sisters.
