Story
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

It Was Not What I Expected, But I Appreciated It
Reviewed: 08-15-24
The text is a powerful reminder of our country's current struggle with the rise of fascism. It serves as a rallying cry to actively resist right-wing agendas that threaten to lead our nation down a dangerous path. It's clear that there are external forces, like Russia and China, working to sow chaos and destabilize America.
This message underscores the critical importance of voting. Our democracy hangs in the balance, and every vote counts. It's imperative that we take action and make our voices heard at the polls to protect the core principles of our nation.
Make a plan to vote and a plan to survive the aftermath if we lose. As Bobby Akart says, "You prepare like tomorrow is the day before."

Story
Mason Lot is in-house counsel for Poseidon, a major Wall Street firm that serves as a front company for the National Security State. His job pays well and gives him insight into the corrupt shadow government, but it can't help with his problems at home. Mason assumed that the hefty price tag for his daughter’s private school would buy him a pass from the insanity plaguing New York’s public school system. Nevertheless, indoctrinated by propaganda, Wynter wants to transition into being a boy. When Mason refuses to pay for the procedure, Wynter turns to the state for help.

But I could have done without the hate speech. I know he was speaking as the characters would, but he could have conveyed the same intent without the hate speech. After all, we are called to love our neighbors. Even if we don't approve of their way of life.

It's Sah Naa and A Den!
Reviewed: 03-28-24
That's how you pronounce the two cities in Yemen. It grated at me when the narrator said, "Ah den" and "Sah Nah Aah." This was constant throughout the book. You could not escape it.
Other than that, I would have given the performance five stars rather than four. I considered three stars, but I decided to be generous since maybe it's just me having a problem.
Who knows, maybe that's the way the locals say it.

Story
Aaron Fortin is new in town. He drives a brand-new Acura—a gift from his parents for uprooting him in the middle of senior year. Showing up on his first day at the local public school in that nice of a car? He knows he’ll never blend in, and he doesn’t care to try. The car, the new-kid mystique, he can use all that.... Crystal Giordano carpools to the same school in her friend Trevor’s beat-up van. In the van along with Crystal and Trevor are Paul, Harmony, and Gayle. Crystal’s technically part of their misfit group, but most of the time, she feels like she’s the only one who doesn’t fit.

Many Christians struggle to understand the Book of Revelation. “The end times.” “The apocalypse.” “The day of judgment.” These terms are both fascinating and frightening – but what do they really mean? Drawing from decades of study, Dr. Jeremiah explains every key sign of the approaching apocalypse and what it means for you, including international, cultural, heavenly, tribulation, and end signs. With his engaging writing style and clear analysis of how current world events were foretold in the Bible, The Book of Signs is an encouraging guide to the Book of Revelation.

Story
Scott Adams was one of the earliest public figures to predict Donald Trump’s election. The mainstream media regarded Trump as a lucky clown, but Adams - best known as “the guy who created Dilbert” - recognized a level of persuasion you only see once in a generation. We’re hardwired to respond to emotion, not reason, and Trump knew exactly which emotional buttons to push. The point isn’t whether Trump was right or wrong, good or bad. Adams goes beyond politics to look at persuasion tools that can work in any setting - the same ones Adams saw in Steve Jobs.
