About this listen

T'Challa faces the gods of his parents. Vampires stalk Shuri and a Dora Milaje in voodoo-laced New Orleans. Erik Killmonger grapples with racism, Russian spies, and his own origins. Here are 18 brand-new tales of Wakanda, its people, and its legacy. The first mainstream superhero of African descent, the Black Panther has attracted fans of all races and colors who see in the king of Wakanda reflections of themselves. Storytellers from across the African diaspora - some already literary legends, others rising stars - have created for this collection original works inspired by the world of the Panther.

With guest stars including Storm, Monica Rambeau, Namor, and Jericho Drumm, these are stories of yesterday and today, of science and magic, of faith and love. These are the tales of a king and his country. These are the legends whispered in the jungle, myths of the unconquered men and women and the land they love. These are the Tales of Wakanda.

This collection features stories by Linda D. Addison, Maurice Broaddus, Christopher Chambers, Milton J. Davis, Tananarive Due, Nikki Giovanni, Harlan James, Danian Jerry, Kyoko M., L.L. McKinney, Temi Oh, Suyi Davies Okungbowa, Glenn Parris, Alex Simmons, Sheree Renée Thomas, Cadwell Turnbull, and Troy L. Wiggins.

I love the creativity of each author

I love the fact their are multiple authors and stories. Like all of these could be canon to Wakanda!

Please tell me there is a book two

This was one of the best books I’ve listened to
Great stories that were written and read with such passion and emotion I would really enjoy listening in the next book the finished stories of the ones that kind of left you hanging.

Black Panther

All the stories were as if you were living them at that moment. Writers really captured the essence I feel of Wakanda, Of what it is to be Wakandan, a disciple of Bast, and apart of a proud tradition of warriors.

Was worth the credit

I enjoyed the different tales from multiple angles throughout Black Panther’s stories. I love that it’s king and helps me get through my work. This book helps me better understand and love Black Panther and makes me look forward to buying the comics.

There is no place like home!!

I listened to the story feeling like I need to go back home even though Wakanda is only a place from someone’s imagination! Still I yearn to travel to such a place.

Black Panther: Tales of Wakanda

I really enjoyed this Black Panther book. I think JD Jackson and Joy Sunday did a good job narrating.

Loved the stories

The stories were strong. However, the narration left a bit to be desired .

I would welcome another anthology like this.

Let’s keep focusing on race…….

I am a white guy from the Midwest. Black Panther has been my favorite superhero since I knew what a superhero was. I never thought about him being a black superhero, just a superhero. Can we please just give the rave, religion, gender angle a rest? Not forever, just maybe like five minutes so I can listen to my childhood hero without being made to feel like I personally had something to do with him not being more mainstream. I grew up in a very culturally diverse neighborhood and no one else’s favorite hero was Black Panther; just mine.
