Story
Die Wise does not offer seven steps for coping with death. It does not suggest ways to make dying easier. It pours no honey to make the medicine go down. Instead, with lyrical prose, deep wisdom, and stories from his two decades of working with dying people and their families, Stephen Jenkinson places death at the center of the discussion and asks us to behold it in all its painful beauty. Die Wise teaches the skills of dying, skills that have to be learned in the course of living deeply and well.

Stephens voice and telling are like a salve to the heart. It makes this broken culture make some sense. Read this book to know how to hold someone hand and for yourself. I’m recommending to everyone I know.

Like many of us, Lisa Wells has spent years overwhelmed by news of apocalyptic-scale climate change and a coming sixth extinction. She did not need to be convinced of the stakes. a love song to what was, what is and what can be. Believers is a wholistic honoring of an ever changing existence we have all shared. Powerful futurism from not a place of fantasy but aching realism. Consciously mortal, this book shares so many permissions to be alive and to live for a future that we cannot see but we can be a part of. So grateful to have listened to this book with Lisa Wells narration. i will be revisiting this book many more times.

Story
As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

Robin Wall Kimmerer is a poet of spirit and stone. Her words echo ancient fireside lessons that ring memory from the bones of all willing to listen. She braids the intersectional and dimensional relationships between science and story, showing a lush path that many of us have been told is too over grown to take but has actually been waiting for us all along. A path that has dual vision of the minute and the cosmic, creating a sense of wholeness in an increasingly compartmentalized modern reality. it is a true honor to be able to read her words and a truer gift to hear her speak them.
