Story
Possibly the darkest and most shocking six scary short stories yet ever created from bestselling author Stephen R. King. An instinct of passion and disrespect for decency and humanity fill this volume of life experiences we mostly keep in the back of our conscience, never wanting to bring to the forefront. Its truly sick!

The story's themselves were pretty good. The AI was a little hard at times as there was not a good cut between the stories. A little music between them would have helped distinguish them. But overall I enjoyed the book.

Too much internal daydreaming
Reviewed: 07-28-23
I enjoyed the book, BUT….. Jenny is overly fixated on falling in love and having kids. She daydreams about it with every man she meets and with every chapter she voices. Gets to be a bit much. But the storyline was good and kept me going.

Story
This wasn’t the plan. Judge Herman Calvert, 88, never thought he’d outlive his beloved wife, Marie. Yet now he finds himself alone, a grieving widower, desperate for escape from the home they built together, where every turn brings a painful reminder of his late wife. So the judge retreats to his lake cabin in rural Wisconsin, a place where an old man can find peace and solitude. A place where nature can take its course. But something new has moved in.

Evrery struggle is real

I love this book! I do a lot of yard work myself, so I feel that the struggle with the vine was entirely captivating. I always imagine that nature is fighting me also when I am doing mine. The book kept me engaged and I was never bored or tempted to skip ahead. Kevin Bacon did a fantastic job reading.

Story
Recently returned from the experience of a lifetime in fin de siècle Vienna, where she met and tragically lost the first great love of her life, Eleanor Burden has no choice but to settle into her expected place in society, marry the man she is supposed to marry, and wait for life to come to her. As the 20th century approaches, hers is a story not unlike that of the other young women she grew up with in 1890s Boston - a privileged upbringing followed by the acknowledgment of real life - except for one difference: Eleanor possesses an unshakable belief that she has advance knowledge of every major historical event to come during her lifetime.

Great sequel to The Little Book
Reviewed: 09-05-18
I loved The Little Book and was very happy to see the next installment. The story is great, and picks up with Eleanor going back to Boston and making a life for herself, despite the tragedy she witnessed in Vienna. Using the journal as her guide for establishing The Hyperion Fund, Eleanor makes the necessary events happen in order for future/past events to unfold.
I was a little disappointed that there was not more information regarding her home life with her husband and children, but I am hopeful that Selden Edwards will write another book to form a trilogy.
If you listened to The Little Book on Audible, you will be extremely upset with the choice in narrator. She mispronounces the name of one of the main characters throughout the book. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the book.

Love time travel books?

If you love time travel books, then this book is for you.
I have listened to this book at least 5 times. I love the way the book keeps you vested in the story going back and forth with the characters. Be warned....you will need to take notes the first time you listen in order to keep the grandfather, father, and son straight in order of times they have come from.
Set at the end of the 1890’s in Vienna, the listener will also be transported to a time where so much was changing and so many influential people actually were.

Story
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Grown up version of Narnia books
Reviewed: 10-14-14
What made the experience of listening to The Magicians the most enjoyable?
You are walking and find yourself following a leaf blowing in the wind. Only to really find yourself in a secret place for the magical. The entrance test seems ridiculous, you fluff your way through it, and are then rewarded with the richest experience of your life!
So now that you have a taste of the beginning, this book is a more grown up and fulfilling story than the Narnia story you already love. The characters are college aged, and have real thoughts and real problems. The story is very relatable and you can easily lose yourself in the characters. You will not want it to end!
