Or to stand in front of the Hubble Space Telescope, wondering if the emergency repair you're about to make will inadvertently ruin humankind's chance to unlock the universe's secrets? Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Loved it except, once again, the narrator and his stupid voices he makes for people he is quoting. I will not be able to listen to another book read by Mr. Graham again--unless he quits the voice thing.

What does David Smalley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I love David Smalley and especially his podcast!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was great--I knew a lot of the info, some was new, and some was shocking!!
Any additional comments?
As a professional who uses a mic daily, pronunciation of words is so important!!! I was shocked to hear words mis-pronounced--but I still loved David's reading--nice voice, great pace!!!
