Story
Fans of true crime shows like CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order know that when it comes to “getting the bad guy” behind bars, your best chance of success boils down to the strength of your evidence—and the forensic science used to obtain it. Beyond the silver screen, forensic science has been used for decades to help solve even the most tough-to-crack cases.

Just the cases, please
Reviewed: 05-20-24
I do not care what the investigators had for lunch, among other mundane details. I would have preferred just the case information. Also, I know this author has a podcast, but I hated her narration. It was fairly monotonous.

Story
Spending her thirtieth birthday alone is not what dating columnist Cleo Wilder wanted, but she plans a solo retreat―at the insistence of her boss―in the name of re-energizing herself and adding a new perspective to her column. The remote Irish island she’s booked is a far cry from London, but at least it’s a chance to hunker down in a luxury cabin and indulge in some self-care while she figures out the next steps in her love life and her career.

Mood listen?
Reviewed: 04-03-23
Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood, but this felt tedious. The main characters constantly reminded us of their situations and I never felt the chemistry.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Women are “delicate creatures” who are hard to deal with when they’re “on the rag” or “hormonal.” I skipped from chapter 15 to the epilogue and didn’t miss a thing. Only got s as far as I did because I love Jacob Morgan.

Story
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

Feel good fun
Reviewed: 02-05-23
I really enjoyed this. The text was fun and loose, the characters lovable. The plot had just enough drama to keep things rolling, but never enough to give me anxiety. The narrator, a master of accents (to my American ear) was fantastic. I’ve drowned in a lot of high stakes historical fiction recently and this was just the thing to make my heart light again.

But soon after her arrival at Coldthistle House, Louisa begins to realize that the house's mysterious owner, Mr. Morningside, is providing much more than lodging for his guests. Incomplete

Some of this was interesting, but overall it just felt incomplete. There were extraneous details / plot points that seemed useless filler and then very large holes in what could have been an interesting story. The narrator was pretty good with accents and voices.

The one that got away. Every girl has one, right? Mine was a charming, British aristocrat who turned my world upside down one summer. From the moment I first spotted Leo in the distance through my binoculars, I’d been captivated. I certainly never expected to find a man showering outside of the property across the bay in his birthday suit.

Story
I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day, it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

This is ... it's ... um, fantastic. I cried sad tears and sobbed happy tears. While it did get sad, it never got the kind of sad or anxious that I can't handle these days. The narrators were amazing; perfect for these characters. I have never relistened to an audiobook, but I will this one. For sure.

Story
They'll do anything for a second shot at forever. When Cole McGregor entered my life, my whole world changed. My new neighbor was older, gorgeous, and the Irish accent had me swooning. And no matter what, he was always there for me, but only as a friend. The day I walked out of his life without a trace...I'd left not as a young girl with a crush but as a woman in love. I regretted my decision to leave Cole behind, but I never doubted the reason for my choice - the chance to find my brother even if I also found myself caught up in a shadowy world of danger.

Laughably awful
Reviewed: 06-06-22
I bought this because I love the male narrator, but I still couldn’t finish it. When I found myself giggling when things got serious, I had to quit, with about 5 hours left. There’s a lot of “this awful thing happened, I can’t tell him the awful thing that happened, what awful thing happened, it was awful but I can’t tell him”. Over and over. The pretend accents are also terrible.
