This was my first book by John and I loved it. Looking forward to diving into more. The audible version is so good. His humor and style made it so enjoyable. I found myself doing on more walks and drives just so I could keep listening. I’m planning on reading it again in two weeks after my birthday to plan out some new goals for a new year.

Thank you for such an engaging read!

JD Pearing employs his wit and experience to highlight why many pastors and ministry leaders struggle and how they can reorient themselves for future success. Disappointment often arises due to unfulfilled expectations, but many of these expectations could have been anticipated. JD takes us through the book of Acts to show what the first church leaders faced and how we should prepare ourselves for similar experiences. In addition to uncovering these challenges, his book offers practical insights and reflective exercises to enhance your leadership skills. As a leader with younger and less experienced staff, I'm thrilled to guide my entire team through this book!

How many books inspire you to plan a retreat to reimagine the next year?

Holly and Glenn Packiam share a framework filled with theology, personal stories, vivid illustrations, and practical tips to help you reflect on how to craft your Intentional Year. I have read a number of books that focus on habits, rhythms, and a rule of life, but this is the first book that made me think of crafting and adapting these life-giving practices with my spouse. I loved their shared voice and family vision. I am really looking forward to the days away that my wife and I have planned to pray, think, and plan our Intentional Year together.
