Story
Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

I want my 3 hours back
Reviewed: 05-07-25
I read this for a book club and crime books are not my thing so take this with a grain of salt. I hate to be harsh in reviews but this is pretty bad and I don’t want people to waste a credit. Not good. No character development, no plot development, no suspense. The way the characters react is cartoonish in a way because they only have one character trait.

Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I can’t say how much this book change my perspective on the genre. It was realistic and fantastical at the same time. The writing I superb and Weir’s way of storytelling keeps you engaged throughout. I was invested in the story and characters from the opening line.

I love this book. Sometimes historical romances get repetitive, but this shakes it up. I would categorize this as a dark historical romance and I want to find more like this. Sadly I don’t know if there are a lot like this out there. Narrator is not good but it kinda blended into the background after a while.

Story
Hailed as one of the world’s masterpieces of psychological realism, The Death of Ivan Ilyich is the story of a worldly careerist, a high-court judge who has never given the inevitability of his death so much as a passing thought. But one day death announces itself to him, and to his shocked surprise he is brought face-to-face with his own mortality. How, Tolstoy asks, does an unreflective man confront his one and only moment of truth?

Well I read it, now it’s over. I don’t know how you like or dislike this story. It is just a glimpse of death makes you look at it and acknowledge that you too will die. Maybe we are supposed to question what our right way to live is. I didn’t like the overwhelming sexism that seemed to be going on and I’m not even sensitive to that kind of thing but yeah mom and daughter get hit by the bus hard.

I’m invested but confused
Reviewed: 08-16-22
I live for this series but it’s a bit confusing. A lot of back and forth with emotions and intentions. It’s hard to keep track of all the plans and backstabbing. Like sometimes I have no idea what they are talking about or who that character was. Also a lot of monologues which is my main reason for a star deduction. I didn’t notice this so much in the other books so I’m hoping the next one tightens up the storyline. Still love Aria and Knox can’t wait for the next one!
