Story
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Made it a little more than half way. One of the dumbest books I've ever read.
The performer made it significantly worse than it needed to be.

Great Story

Would you listen to The Son of Neptune again? Why?
Yes. Because the story was enjoyable.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Son of Neptune?
Hearing about Percy coming back. I love the first books.
How could the performance have been better?
A different reader entirely. Joshua never was almost never heard breathing, but he sounded bored and pronounced multiple words wrong. I was upset that he pronounced the word Gaea Gia! There isn't even an I in it! Did this person even read the book before they recorded it?
Any additional comments?
I would love if any more of Rick's books were read to once more use Jesse Bernstein.

Story
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

One of the best in the series
Reviewed: 12-26-09
I first picked up The Eye of the World in 1992 while I was stationed overseas in the Army and I have been a voracious fan ever since. I even maintained my own fansite and created around 50 different pieces of art inspired by the series.
I tell you these things because I want to qualify what I am about to say: This book is EASILY one of the best in the series. I felt that Mr. Jordan had sort of lost his way in the last few books and very little had been accomplished. Brandon Sanderson has come in and written a book that is better paced than at least the last 4 written by Robert Jordan and to me at least the characters all still felt like they should have.
In short, this IS a Wheel of Time novel and I'd highly recommend it. It goes on my shelf as one of my most cherished right next to The Shadow Rising and The Fires of Heaven.
