This is a super slow burn. Like REALLY SLOW burn. (Minor spoilers ahead) I’m all for a slow burn but when they don’t even hook up until 80% through the book… Its just all fluff at that point. Also, for anyone who is interested in this title because of Jacob Morgan, be ready that this book is like 70% from the girl’s perspective. On the bright side, the second book in this series (which I read first) is WAY better. Just a better plot and more steaminess from what I remember.
Also, take the reviews that give it a negative review for Rose Dioro with a grain of salt. I think Rose is a great reader. Readers are just 100% down to personal preference. Check the sample and if you don’t like it, don’t get it!

So so good. Best Mafia book
Reviewed: 05-20-23
So, I have read quite a lot of Mafia romances. This one is so good. Interesting differences from other books. And, the mafia stuff is super believable. Some very highly rated mafia romances make absolutely zero sense from the mafioso’s perspective (making really dumb security decisions or just connections to the mafia life that are completely implausible). This one was great. Believable but also fresh. Loved it. Can’t wait for the next story in this series!
FYI, seems like the general plot from this will continue throughout the series, but this couple’s romance appears to conclude here. No cliff hangers. But I still want to know what happens next!

Story
For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

This story feels like it was edited within an inch of its life. While it’s a fun tale, there isn’t much substance to it. There isn’t much character development and it just feels like it wasn’t fully developed. I’d say this is a great beach read or if you are in the mood for something light but still involves witches. I love this narrator though. She is great.

One of Molly’s Best!

I really enjoyed this book! I’m a big Molly Harper fan, but I think this is one of her best. This does deal with the serious issue of domestic violence, but Molly does a great job of keeping her signature spunk while treating the topic with utmost respect. A great listen, especially if you already know and love Molly’s other work.

AMAZING!!!!!

I have read all of the ACOTR series and I thought that Maas had created the ultimate storyline with those books. This series is just as good if not better. The thing I love about this book is that it is a completely different heroine. Maas knows how to create strong yet different heroines with inventive and engaging story lines. The beginning of this book is a bit slow and I found myself getting annoyed in the first 4 hours or so, but once you get through that you will see that each of those first few hours was absolutely necessary. This is an incredible story with awesome characters. Just click the purchase button already! You won’t regret it.

It has been a few years since I heard the first two books, but I thought this reader was amazing! Also the continuation of the story was great in this novel. If the change in narration bothers you, then just wait a few months between the 2nd book and this one. I can’t wait to listen to the next one!

Story
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring.

Beginning of a Great Series
Reviewed: 06-09-19
I cannot recommend this series enough. I was a little disappointed about how simple this first book was. BUT, books two and three are well worth the somewhat long set up. This is one of the best series I have read in a while. I am surprised it hasn't been picked up for some sort of TV/Movie remake. The author works very hard to make each of the novels an accurate portrayal of the time period, while also creating interesting characters that develop over time. If you are thinking about reading this series, go for it! By the end of book two, you will never want it to end.

Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live. Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. But something sinister is afoot....

Amazing As Always
Reviewed: 06-09-19
This is another great addition to this marvelous series. I was very sad to learn that the past narrator, Katherine Kellgren, had passed away. She was absolutely wonderful and made the story really come to life. This new narrator does a great job of paying homage to the personas that Ms. Kellgren created with the voices for these characters. While it takes some getting used to, the new narrator's portrayal remains loyal to the series. Queeny still sounds like Queeny, and most importantly the narrator managed to nail Fig's voice as well. It took me a while to come back to this series after learning about the change in narrators, but I am happy to find that this series is just as amazing as always. I can't wait for the next book!

This is one of the best books I have ever read/listened to. The author’s great writing is made even more lyrical and masterful by the narrator’s voice and inflection. Just an amazing purchase! I also loved how the author weaved it all together. If you have any familiarity with the classics or Greek mythology this book is full of wonderful nuggets and references. If you have zero familiarity with those things, then it’s still an amazing and compelling story. Just buy this book already! It’s worth it.
