stopped reading on chapter 3
Reviewed: 11-04-19
Long and meandering story. On the second had to research what the rule he was trying to make was. Chapter 3,( surrounding onself with positive ), begins and never seems to stop about the negatives of growing up in the northern plains of Canada. Think cold, boredom and drugs. Could not finish.

Story
The Myth of Capitalism tells the story of how America has gone from an open, competitive marketplace to an economy where a few very powerful companies dominate key industries that affect our daily lives. Digital monopolies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon are gatekeepers to the digital world. Amazon is capturing almost all online shopping dollars. We have the illusion of choice, but for most critical decisions, we have only one or two companies when it comes to high speed internet, health insurance, medical care, mortgage title insurance, or even consumer goods like toothpaste.

Considering I bought this book through a company aquired by Amazon, I am guilty as charged. I've been a huge advocate for each and everyone of the companies now dominating todays market. For example I bought an Amazon shredder which was essentially knock off of a popular shredder made by an independent company advertising on Amazon. More concerning is the huge drop of internet start ups we are seeing in San Francisco. Its like the money has dried up. Bottom line is these companies are not bad. but any concentration of power is. This is a good sjort read with lots of information. Pass it along

Woderful update on trees

I have a 9 year old daughter who was sharing with me how trees communicate. Not having read a science journal since college this was all news to me. With this book I lept into the current age.
Overall a nice easy read with lots of information and background information to give the reader a solid understanding of what the current knowledge is.

As I see it, the purpose of this audio book is for backgroud listening. I am able to go about my normal home routine cooking, cleaning and emailing tasks with this playing in the background. Its easy to tune out and equally easy to listen and pick up words or phrases. I am looking forward to vol 2

Story
John Paul Jones is more than a great sea story. Jones is a character for the ages. John Adams called him the "most ambitious and intriguing officer in the American Navy." The renewed interest in the Founding Fathers reminds us of the great men who made this country, but John Paul Jones teaches us that it took fighters as well as thinkers, men driven by dreams of personal glory as well as high-minded principle to break free of the past and start a new world. Jones' spirit was classically American.
