Story
During their daily walks, new puppy Dea pulls her human, Alison, by the leash into making connections, handling crippling loss, and coping with the challenges of life. What might have been tragic through Alison’s eyes finds wider perspective and resonance through Dea’s as she tolerates Alison’s pathetic attempts at meditation and online dating, sees her through a second bout of cancer, and finally steers Alison toward appreciating life’s daily wonders that are a puppy’s birthright.

A lovely, touching and intimate memoir
Reviewed: 01-06-24
Alison Rand has written a very sensitive, poetic, memorable memoir of her life….. seen from the eyes of her beautiful black poodle ….Dea
Very interesting, warm and touching…… had me thinking about how our furry four-legged friends may really see us……Alison’s Dea is a voice of immense wisdom……

Story
Struggling New York actress Alison has an outwardly good life: toned body, plenty of dates, a comfortable daily regimen. Still, she feels stagnant, empty, and as blocked as the river view from her Upper West Side apartment. Now divorced and in her mid-30s, she has never gotten past an early childhood trauma of being torn away from her brother and sister when her parents separated. Since then, nothing sticks. No one stays. She craves a sense of permanence, a place to call home.

A bittersweet story........beautifully told

Alison Rand’s memoir “A place called Grace” was beautifully written and told. Alison’s narration of her story from life in Rome to her continuing story in Manhattan was both funny & sad and throughout....incredibly honest. I was truly moved by her ability to be so straightforward with issues that must’ve been extremely painful to acknowledge and more so to express.....so beautifully.
Alison’s narration is a tribute to her acting skills and as a voiceover artist....... I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to hear a sad/ funny & truly human story
BRAVISSIMO👌
