Story
June 1942. The shadow of the Third Reich has fallen across the European continent. In desperation, Winston Churchill and his chief of staff form an unusual plan: a new commando unit made up of Jewish refugees who have escaped to Britain. The resulting volunteers are a motley group of intellectuals, artists, and athletes, most from Germany and Austria. Many have been interned as enemy aliens and have lost their families, their homes - their whole worlds. They will stop at nothing to defeat the Nazis.

As a retired Ranger and someone who has been to Normandy twice with a mother that lived in London during the Blitz who can still pick out a Spitfire just by hearing it and a Father that was an AA gunner on the Cliffs of Dover and arrived in Normandy on +10 and Uncles and others that fought in WW2 All of this book and series really means a lot to me. Especially the closing chapter. These are the men who shaped modern American. They would be ashamed of what is happening to it today as am I. They fought and died to keep the World Free from national socialists (NAZIS) and communists and now the young people of today beg for masks. Don't want to work. Want "Free Stuff". Hate free speech. Melt down when they hear the truth or simply walk away confused. They simply can't handle the truth. It's a sad sad world. 😔

I truly didn't know what to expect from this book, but I am so glad I listened to it. I grew up and served during the cold war from the beginning to the end. This story is so full of the behind the scenes history some of it once highly classified. To not only hear it but to hear it in the context of the situations it came about from someone that was very personally involved and the insights he brings to them in this story makes every minute of this story listening to. If I can find the time I have a feeling I will listen to it again. You really won't regret getting this audible book. I can't say enough about it. Beyond just an airplane book it's up close and personal history from a point of view Very Few People can or ever will have. Very well presented and excellent narration. Not a single dull moment.

Story
Donald Trump is unlike any president we've ever had. He is the only person ever elected to be commander in chief who has not first held public office or served as a general in the military. His principles grow out of five decades of business and celebrity success - not politics - so he behaves differently from traditional politicians.

Medal of Honor portrays several recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, and examines what drove them to go so far above and beyond the call of duty. Among the stories are an accurate account of the life of the only woman ever to receive the medal, and of a soldier from the legendary WWII Japanese-American 442nd, who went on to earn the medal in the Korean War.

I have read many Medal Of Honor stories and books and have meant a Medal Of Honor soldier in person. I have found each and every story Inspiring and humbling. I really enjoyed this book not only for the stories but especially because it went so deeply into the History of The Medal itself. How it came about How and Why it's meaning and awarding changed and matured. Honestly you have to listen to the story to grasp what I can't seem to write. But weather you're like me and have read many of these stories or not you will Definitely Not Regret hearing the story and Definitely Learn a lot more about The Medal and the story of it's being and how it came to be.

Well written story. Please Mr. Weber I did mostly enjoy your narration. But if nobody has already mentioned this, please ask a few Military people to fill you in on acronyms. They are RARELY read letter by letter. They are Actually Pronounced as a "Word". It really does grate on the ears of people that live in the Military and Government world. After they became distracting like speed but planted around areas that really don't need them. Thanks All for a really Excellent story. If you have or haven't lived around this life it's an excellent read either way.

Story
May 1940. Britain is at war, Winston Churchill has unexpectedly been promoted to prime minister, and the horrors of Blitzkrieg witness one Western European democracy fall after another in rapid succession. Facing this horror, with pen in hand and typist-secretary at the ready, Churchill wonders what words could capture the public mood when the invasion of Britain seems mere hours away. It is this fascinating period that Anthony McCarten captures in this deeply researched and wonderfully written new book, The Darkest Hour.

I really enjoyed this audible book. As mentioned in the introduction there's so much to learn about Churchill. There is of course endless history to learn also. The readers voice is very easy and pleasing to listen to and holds your attention well making the story and history that much better to grasp and enjoy. Very well done I will certainly look for more stories and narratives by both Anthony McCarten and John Lee.

Story
As the true horrors of the Third Reich began to be exposed immediately after World War II, the Nazi war criminals who committed genocide went on the run. A few were soon caught, including the notorious SS leader Heinrich Himmler. Others, however, evaded capture through a sophisticated Nazi organization designed to hide them. Among them were Josef Mengele, the “Angel of Death” who performed hideous medical experiments at Auschwitz; Martin Bormann, Hitler’s brutal personal secretary; Klaus Barbie, the cruel "Butcher of Lyon"; and perhaps the most awful Nazi of all: Adolf Eichmann.

Story
The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.
