A good start and Bad Ending
Reviewed: 05-24-23
The Narrator of the story was not bad but felt like he was just reading a story and didn’t put any effort in the narration. At the same time story started off slow but picked up. First part is just there for a little bit of story building and how the Gaia works noble powers and how to get card and how the work Once past that just a normal run of the mill story of Diya climbing the tower. Spoilers ahead on how stupid the ending is. This will be a rant. Lol
So I must repeat The ending is kinda stupid. For one randomly giving the main bad guy a power to manipulate others to do what he wants basically mind control. Really really!!!!!! The whole book talks about nobles and the power they have and some political shenanigans going on but you decide oh the bad guy needs mind control powers. WTF were you thinking. The better ending would be that the noble brat is being manipulated by another family for more power and control but since he is the new heir to the family not much can be done and the father which being desperate because his eldest will not be able to take over and needs healing goes along with the new heir because he has no better alternatives in his mind. Which is what the book was alluding to the whole time but Then really…..really…. mind control powers is your twist. You didn’t need a twist this is book one. I repeat book one this is just suppose to be a set up for the story characters and the continuing plot but you just had go in and give the most hated character aka the heir mind control powers really because reasons. Especially mind control powers that works on higher tier climbers really really.

Good but too long
Reviewed: 02-02-23
I have a few complaints on this series so far. Some to do with the lack of interest The main character has in exploring her power. The power to be one of the most powerful Metas if she wished but for whatever reason single minded focus on her inventions that limits her growth. Also the story has a lot of unneeded parts and the story as a whole could be slimed down. Don’t need various uninspired side story’s in the final act that drag out the main story. But overall this would be a good listen. I did almost stop several times because I was like come on get on with it already but if you like story’s about Caps and Villains this would be a good listen.

Good setting but a rehash of SJM Characters
Reviewed: 04-14-22
The idea for this book is a good one. But the book doesn’t balance the fantasy and the romance well. SJM just decided to bring Characters from her other books to this book with no nuance takes on them and a standard force love between two main characters. The romance in this book is cringe worthy with random thoughts of sex by the main characters all the time. SJM spends first half of the book building the plot and story but the second half she spends way to much time trying to make this an epic love story with two people instead of allowing the story to bring them together especially when this romance could not happen. Spoiler warning She met the guy on the day her world was shattered and her friends were killed. His vary presence would make her remember the day she wants to forget all the time. If I had to guess I wouldn’t want to be around someone that makes me remember the worst thing that happened In my life but nope that sort of character insight is not seen because it would ruin the love story. If you enjoy cringe worthy attempts at love/sex or don’t mind it you’d like this book.

Solid but gets in its own way
Reviewed: 04-07-22
The book is a good read and the concept is good so a solid story. Though you can tell the author with the last two books on earth has not known the direction he wants to take. The book has its ups and its downs going from event to event. You have an over arching story that the book touches on here and there but then gets distracted by side stories and politics and character reflection and development that we’ve seen already in previous books. All of this has little impact to the main story that is trying to build up too.

Good but disagree with some of the story choices
Reviewed: 11-24-20
Overall the book is good but the direction of the story and the characters does not go well with the characteristics of the game. For one Meetra the main protagonists of KOTOR 2 was a powerful Jedi but in this book she is to me seems weak like she didn’t kill 3 Sith Lords in the game whom almost wiped out the Jedi one of whom reminds me of the emperor in this book feeding on worlds. KOTOR 2 also suggest that the reason Revan turned to the dark side and the republic was to try and prepare for something. But in this his excuse for turning to the dark side makes you go huh really well that’s stupid? Overall good but questionable story choices on the outcome of Revan and Meetra.

Half a Story
Reviewed: 07-22-20
This is just a series of events to sets up for the next book which comes out in 2 months. Should have made it one book or have them come out together. Story is unresolved and no resolution to the plot of this story which had none. The story is just a stepping stone to the next book and offers nothing of value to the series. The conflicts are insubstantial and Harry just sits around and accomplishes one of his goals and answers no questions as to why any of this is happening. This is just a money grab to try and sell one book as two disappointing to say the least.

Normal teen Romance Novel
Reviewed: 07-08-20
This is a classic teen romance novel with a back drop of SyFi elements. The story is predictable and is straight forward. The first book had a combination of romance and a objective the character has to do. This book gives the character nothing to do with an objective in mind but is just a side note to what the Author really wants to write a normal classic teen love story done a million times over again by other writers. The book is not bad but could use a little something more to improve overall quality.

Like most TV shows have done they create an episode that they can later use to create a new TV show/spin off from. This is that Episode. This is barely part of the Skippy and Joe saga they are just there to clean up the mess the Mavericks found themselves in.
