Story
To save my son, I would give up my soul. To survive this journey and stop those who face us, I may have to do just that. My son is waiting for me to bring him home, to rescue him from the horrors he’s faced on his own. I won’t take the chance to find him only to fail him again. Which means I must unearth a way to kill his captor, a man who is immortal. A man who made a deal with the devil to attain his power. As it stands, there is only one way to end that monster’s life.

This series is a roller coaster ride if I ever saw one! Really tough to listen to in some places because it brings out the emotional response of the animal lover in me. But, if you hang on and keep listening you will be rewarded with a GREAT story! Keeps you guessing and the books segue terrifically. Totally, not just highly, recommend this series!!!

Story
These are not the mild-mannered maidens of your childhood. These are fallen princesses and fierce women with no recollection of who they are, where they came from, or how they arrived in a mysterious town called Everafter. All they know is that they've been sentenced to a stretch in a half-way house by a malicious judge with an ax to grind. They've been stripped of their freedom, their kingdoms, and their true loves. Now, they have nothing left to lose.

I found it hard to start this story. Not due to the writing, but due to the narration. There is something about the way this was recorded that sounded different to me to start with. Then, the narrator’s ability to voice different chars didn’t seem as strong as others I’ve listened to and it was a bit distracting. Couple that with some mispronunciations of words like Formica. It was not easy to suspend ones belief and just listen. However, the story is pretty good, and now I want to know what else happens.

Am really liking these stories a lot. My only real problem is that many words as narrated are mispronounced. Bestial and tousled, are ones I can at best. I would understand it if the narrator was pronouncing the words while using a British accent as sometimes the words are said a bit different. But this is not the case in every instance that i noted it. I don’t usually comment about these sort of issues, but this was numerous. Despite this, i would recommend the read.

Story
Hello. My name is Stevie Cartwright, and I've been witchless for 30 days. If only there was a support group for down-on-their-luck ex-witches who've had their powers slapped right out of them (literally). Just as I was licking my wounds after returning to my hometown of Ebenezer Falls, Washington, and navigating my suddenly nonmagical existence with the help of my familiar, Belfry, things got sticky. Enter an ex-spy and newly departed spirit named Winterbottom, who's infiltrated my life with his sexy British accent and a couple of requests....

I like the story. The narration thus far as I listen to it though, leaves a lot to be desired. It's as if the narrator is simply reading sentences with prolonged pauses between them. It's not all the time, but often enough to be distracting. I'm going to try and read the rest, but I'm not sure I'll be able to tolerate it.

I had just finished the last of Kim Harrison's witch books and really wanted to read another strong female character. Then, I saw she reviewed this book and thought I'd try it. For me at the beginning it seemed a little slow, I wasn't sure I liked the character and almost put it down. But, I needed something to listen to on my commute and powered through. I am so glad I did! What I like about Faith Hunter's writing is she knows how to write suspense, action, and characters. The more you read, the more you peel back another layer of Jane/Beast, and see what she's capable of. I feel like I'm watching a movie instead of listening to a book because of all the detail she puts into the writing as well.
Just be aware that if you are squeamish about descriptions of blood and gore, this book might not be for you. However, if you are a fan of a well written, story about a female Vampire Hunter who occasionally has to fight other kinds of supernaturals in pretty graphic fashion you'll probably like this book a lot. I'm not so much into the gore, but the story around it is very well written. I love the voice she gives Beast too. I plan on reading the series, and am finishing the 3rd book today.

Okay-- the story I liked very much. Emily Shaffer prior to this has been doing a great job on all the voices. I really loved her delivery of Adrian's snarky voice and identified him by it. While Alden's portrayal isn't awful, I wonder who decided that Adrian's British accent should go *poof*? If it was a performance decision on Alden's part, I really wish he'd listened to Emily's previous portrayals and tried to copy it. Indeed he does know how to do so because he does Neil's voice with one. I found the sudden shift in voice not only disappointing, but distracting to listen to after Emily's previous portrayals.
That all being said, it's well worth the read. The plot is good, the ending is a bit of a shock.
But I do have to ask: Am I the only one who wants to give Sydney's Dad a major piece of their mind?! What a tool he is!! And I'm sorry, but Zoe is following in his narcissistic footsteps and I wouldn't have been so able to hold my tongue like Sydney does. I really want to give Sydney a kick in the butt to get her to finally stand up to him and on her own two feet, and take back some of her personal power. Perhaps we'll see that in the next volume...I hope so!

Story
The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels our own, is shrinking, and if it disappears, so does all magic. It’s up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to fix the ever-after before the fragile balance between magic users and humans fails. Of course, there’s also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, and her life is forfeit unless she can fix it.

I really liked the book, so sorry to see a couple of characters killed off but - it's okay. It will help to lead the story in new directions. Rachel endures yet another lose-lose scenario and makes it through, albeit not totally unscathed. I'm wondering where the story will go with these changes. Can't wait for the next one!

Story
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

When I started listening to the story I wasn't hooked initially. I'm not sure why exactly. Perhaps it is the way the characters are developed... not sure. However, as time went on, I really began to love listening to the story. The narrator does a fabulous job with the accents of various characters, and with Oberon's voice especially. Without this type of narration, I think the story would be good, but definitely missing something important. I think he is able to bring the essence of the author's intent for his story... and now I have bought all three of the audiobooks, and have finished two thus far. I am looking forward to number three!
