Story
A week's holiday in a luxurious hotel is just what Scotland Yard's Superintendent Duncan Kincaid needs. But his vacation ends dramatically with the discovery of a dead body in the whirlpool bath. Despite a suspicious lack of cooperation from the local constabulary, Kincaid's keen sense of duty won't allow him to ignore the heinous crime, impelling him to send for his enthusiastic young assistant, Sergeant Gemma James. But the stakes are raised significantly when a second murder occurs....

Enjoyable enough

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I was underwhelmed. The ending comes out of nowhere, and I felt it made a lot of aspects of the story unnecessary.
What does Michael Deehy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
A great voice... I wish everything in my life could be narrated by a British man.
Was A Share in Death worth the listening time?
I would say it is if you are like me. I can listen to books while at work, so it was nice to get me through my day, but I wouldn't have taken time out of my day to listen to it.
Any additional comments?
It wasn't a bad book in any sense, it just wasn't all that exciting. And there wasn't enough character development to really get you to care about them.

Story
This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

Not sure why the reviews are so polar opposite.

Absolutely wonderful!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Name of the Wind to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version, but I know it would've been more difficult to get all the names and locations down. Listening to the book as opposed to reading it really made it enjoyable and not a chore.
Who was your favorite character and why?
By far the leading character Kvothe was my favorite. He didn't always make smart, or even ethical choices, but I found that added to the story. No one is perfect and it was nice to have a REAL main character.
What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I find stories like this (epic fantasies) are more enjoyable when read to you. It really enhances the storytelling aspect.
I found Nick's voice very suited for the book. He did well with the different voices.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, in fact I chose it partly because of its length. I am allowed to listen to my ipod while at work, so I like to choose longer books to listen to. I found myself excited to go to work so I could continue the story.
