I thought it would never end but I paid for it do I slogged through it. The most unrealistic story I think I've read in a long time.

Wonderful narration. I loved how you never really knew what was developing. A tad repetitive in spots but overall great character development and interesting plot.

Really enjoyed the depth of the life lessons despite the ease of guessing the mystery way too soon. Truth always prevails for those who deserve our honesty.....despite the consequences. Lovely recollection of the mid 70s....

I struggled through it. Drawn out to the point of boring. I felt it was a great way to help the reader understand Trans issues but I didn't need the relentless preaching. It made the issue small when it is an important issue. So disappointing.

I think a knowledge of yoga is very helpful. This is so well done with shorter and longer guided sessions. I can't wait for Volume 3.

The overall story line was great but the sugary sweetness of the one dimensional characters was at times annoying.

Revisionist history meets political correctness. I really think it was awful. The characters came out of the 21st century. Totally unbelivable.

I can deal with flat characters to an extent but this was unbearable. The characterization of the prison guards and worse yet the Southern governor was a stretch to say the least. Awful.

Have you listened to any of Brittany Pressley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Brittany is one of the best readers I have heard. Her ability to use her speaking voice to portray the various characters' voices was quite authentic.

Who was the most memorable character of Miller's Valley and why?

Her mother, who is the matriarch is the most memorable. Her mother's ability to hold the family together regardless of the circumstances was the guiding force behind her daughter's being able to escape her lot and become a very accomplished woman. Like many matriarchs, the mother is steadfast and loyal despite her personal shortcomings. She is the glue that so many of us see in our own families. She is the strength behind the family.

Any additional comments?

At times, I may have sometimes felt like there were a lot of words used for a story line that was fairly typical but the ordinary struggles of the book are relevant to the reader because we all face similar difficulties and joys in life. Once you reach the epilogue, you begin to understand the purpose of the story. When we face the biggest challenges in our lives, we don't always see the relevance to the bigger picture of our life. In the epilogue, the main character is able to understand and have profound wisdom about her relatives in terms of how they effected not only her but each other. The book also suggests that when we are young, we are often not privy to the secrets of the past and it is not until we are older that understanding of our families' strengths and foibles become crystal clear. It was a profoundly powerful revelation to me as the reader.
