Story
Ten years ago, the Harper family disappeared. Their deserted cottage was left with the water running, the television playing cartoons, the oven ready for baking. The doors were locked from the inside. Overnight, the sleepy village of Nighbrook became notorious as the scene of the unsolved mystery of the decade, an epicentre for ghoulish media speculation. For crime journalist Naomi, solving the case has turned into an obsession. So now, with Ivy Cottage finally listed for sale, it’s her chance to mount an investigation like no other.

Story
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Just couldn't get into this one. Too much other people, not enough Reacher. The story is a just not relatable. It's sort of Jack Reacher Lite. Ok but not great.

Story
Felix Allsey is a travel writer with a keen eye for the paranormal, and he's carved out a unique, if only slightly lucrative, niche for himself in nonfiction; he writes travelogues of the country's most haunted places, after haunting them himself. When he convinces the owner of the infamous Rotterdam Mansion to let him stay on the premises for two weeks, he believes he's finally found the location that will bring him a best seller. Then things start going wrong: screams from upstairs, figures in the thresholds, and more than what should be in any basement.

Best story I've listened to in a long while!
Reviewed: 01-24-23
The narrator for this book is perfect. He effortlessly managed to make the voices sound different enough so I never wondered who was speaking. And his voice! Overall, most excellent. I would listen to anything he read.
AS for the BOOK--Oh, holy mother of ghost stories! I'd have an inkling as to the fate of one of the characters half-way through, and then things would change and I would be sure it was another thing (not giving away ANYthing in this selection!) There was a short time when I thought there was too much extra information that didn't seem important to the story, but THEN. IT. DID. But the end blew me right out of my seat. Didn't see the end coming at all. And yet, the end was totally plausible and better than I could have expected.
This book was incredibly entertaining and so well-written I will listen to this again. Maybe starting tomorrow!

Story
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

I rarely listen to an audio book that has more than 2 readers. I don't particularly enjoy performed dramas. Having said that, this book was fantastic! I have already listened to it twice, and will keep it in my listen again folder.
The characters were spot on, and Ripley was very real. The storyline was fun and exciting. I just want everyone to listen to this.

But more than that, Stone reveals the pathos behind so many relationships of girls with Barbie: those who cherished her and those who were negatively influenced.

About 3 Hours too long.
Reviewed: 01-21-19
unfortunately, the author had only three Barbie ideas, and none of them were original. And they are repeated in an unorganized manner, for the entire 3 hours and 3 minutes.
The info on the creator of Barbie was interesting, but presented piecemeal. The strident hatred by adults of Barbie was over-represented, and little girls' love for Barbie was almost non-existent.
I don't know a lot about Barbie (which is why I decided to download this audiobook) and after trying to follow the storyline I feel that now I know even less.

my only complaint--it's pronounced libRary, not Liberry. Seriously. Look it up.

Story
The "Big Three" are a trio of inmates locked up in the Minnesota Security Hospital over the years, each a particularly vicious serial killer, each with his own distinct style and propensities. Everybody feels much safer knowing that they're behind bars. Except...there's a new killer on the loose. And his handiwork bears a disturbing resemblance to some of the finer points practiced by the Big Three, details that never even made the papers.
